  • Is this Australian stock?

    • +2

dont think so.. it says.. contents include: user Guide (foreign language)

    • +2

Not Australian stock. This is grey import.

    • +2

No. But I have bought from them many times. If you want to return it, you ship it to their australian address and they take care of the returns to hong kong.

    • I bought a G4 from qd, its grey stock. I'm stoked with mobile, the camera is amazing. I haven't had any issues. I've been on amaysim and Optus 4g in Brisbane / Gold Coast, super fast.

I've been eyeing on the new Galaxy S7 before the announcement…. but LG G5 stole the show. Really excited to the the plug-in modules in action. If the reviews are good and the battery life is solid then I'm sold.

QD au is a reputable seller, bought my G4 from them 6 months ago and have had no issues.

    • +3

Even Kogan is a reputable seller, when you come to issues that is the problem come out. So I would love to here if anyone deal with QD when they have issues?

      • +4

The first phone QD sent me did not accept Australian simcards so I raised the issue with them and they asked me to post it to an address in Lidcombe (NSW). Once they received it, they processed the refund and I purchased another G4 from them. The one I received had no issues.

      • You send back to their Australian address, but it then gets shipped back to Taiwan. I recall reading on WP someone waited 2 months for warranty service.

EDIT: Unless it's like the other reply where it was pretty much not fit for purpose straight away.

        • Their warehouse is in rhodes. I have hand delivered it once before when i needed to do a warranty claim. Im not sure it was directly their fault but they said samsung hongkong claimed the damage was from dropping it (i had a inch long yellow tinge on corner of screen) so denied my claim then qd told me i was liable for return postage. Was a bit shltty that they never told me anything about paying return postage plus having to wait 6 weeks without a phone and still having it unrepaired.

I bought a G4 from them in Oct/Nov and noticed a problem with the screen in December. They agreed to to a warranty return. I sent the phone back to them new years eve. They still haven't sent it back to me. 53 days and counting. 0/10 would not recommend.

      • Kogan replaced an iPhone 5 I purchased after the screen had verticle banding, about 8 months in…

    • +5

How do you know the G5 has heating issues? It was only announced today.

    • I tend to agree, except the overheating since i have no idea as yet, but the design is ordinary IMO and the modular attachments might be a good idea but who is dropping what I assume will be decent money on attachments that I bet wont be able to be used with the G6.

    • The overheating some articles are reffering to is not about the phone. Its reffering as to wether the new snapdragon 820 has solved the issues with 810.

A bit harsh blaming a phone when you cant read properly.

The eBay T&C states "Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure."

Does this mean, buyer has to send the phone back to qd_au / overseas at buyer's expense?

  • Unique mobiles has the red one for $533 + shipping Au Stock It will work out to be about $53 dearer. I know the deal posted is cheaper but this is AU stock. Any thoughts??

    • From your link:

Warranty 12 Mth Blue Rabbit Limited (Batteries 6 months)
      Condition Brand New
      Stock Import Direct

So my thoughts are it's a more expensive grey import in a worse colour?

      • Cheers for that. When I clicked on the link it showed AUS stock but obviously not.

        • well ignore my comment then..hehe if its not aus stock dont bother!

        • @scud70: Yeh I got excited for a minute. It's a bit misleading when you see the AUS Stock label

    • get Aus stock imo .. :) if QD go belly up you can go to manufacturer

    • Yup, though it's going to be more or less double the price of this

    • The pet ball cam and 360 degree cam would be so handy. I'm sure the add-ons won't be cheap but such an innovative phone.

    • Whoa that is awesome. 5.3 inch display, Thank you LG you started to realise that size is not everything.

      • THe Samsung one is 5.1" and 5.5" for the edge version

I bought my G4 from QD for $450 during last eBay 15% off promotion.

Its screen doesn't turn on after Android Marshmallow upgrade. No LG logo boot screen either. The phone would only light up to show battery status when recharging.

I have been emailing and messaging and calling QD for warranty service for the last two weeks with no response and their eBay registered contact number was disconnected.

LG Australia refused warrant service and directed me back to QD as it is a grey import.

LG G4 is a great phone. My productivity took a massive hit without it.

    • I had the same issue with the marshmallow upgrade. I bought mine from Kogan and sent it back. Waiting for Kogan to see what they'll do about it. If nothing happens, I'll have to can Kogan and LG. If fixed by Kogan, they got themselves a customer for life :)

    • Have Issues with phone with Kogan got a replacement within 3 weeks, 1 weeks send it back and 2 weeks wait for them to ship another phone from Hong Kong.

    • I don't own this phone so it may not be relevant but I've had MM upgrades re-partition the storage on the phone, if had a problem rewriting the partition table I'd expect this sort of failure. Other option would be the boot partition itself.

I'd be surprised if a OTA update can fully hard brick a device, see if you can boot it in to recovery and have a look on XDA dev to see if it can be fixed.

      • +1

You are TOTALLY RIGHT! You are a legend.

It was indeed the re-partition during MM Upgrade that caused the display off.

All the phone repair shops in my area to had no clue whatsoever.

I flashed the stock Lollypop image and Viola…

The trick was to flash the image from USB 2.0 port, not USB 3.0 port.

        • The trick was to flash the image from USB 2.0 port, not USB 3.0 port.

Can you expand on this? Isn't the update OTA?
Edit: sorry, you were talking about reflashing back to Lollipop. So how does one do a Marshmallow upgrade successfully?

        • @amts:

My G4 display would stay off from either OTA Marshmallow update or flashing Marshmallow KDZ.

I tired OTA, upgrading through LG bridge, LG flash tools or LG UP. I would stay put on Lollypop for now.

        • @Herbert: OK, noted.

    • I bought a grey import from Kogan and haven't had problems… I'm glad I didn't run into the marshmallow update issue… what a bummer.. I didn't really notice any difference in it anyway.
Does anyone know of any good deals for new leather covers?? the corners of mine are starting to look a bit crap.

I managed to get a reply from QD after I escalated a Paypal claim out of desperation.

Their one line response was that my messages would not be replied because I raised a Paypal dispute.

All I asked from QD was a return address for warrant service which they kept as a top secret.

QD customer service is poor and so called seller warranty service is non-existent.

    • +1

Anyone needing their physical return address pm me and ill try dig it up from my emails

  • I have all but positive dealings with QD_au, but I might have been lucky.

It just makes me wonder why would a seller not respond to buyer's concern about warranty just hoping they would go away? Which buyer would just forget a few hundred dollar phone which still has warranty left?

  • I have only bought the LG G4 previously from QD and no issue with the phone so have not had to use their after sales service. With the feedback above, I might think a few times before purchasing from them again and will delay the Marshmallow upgrade for a while.

  • Not really a bargain. I bought g4 2 months ago for approximately 430$.

    • Yeah, hope eBay will do extra discount before the group buy end.

    • Agree. Not good price for non au stock.

    • Correction its 4 months ago

  • Bought my G4 from QD in October,it shipped quickly enough and I've had no issues, upgraded to MM no issues.
I can't complain about QD but it looks like there are some people with genuine issues.
BTW I paid $447.50 in October

  • This one is a 1.44 Quad-core processor.. Kogan is now selling the Hexa-core 1.8GHz processor for $509 (free shipping).

    • Incorrect. From the ebay description:

      "Snapdragon 808 MSM8992 1.82 Dual + 1.44 Quad-core processor"

      Dual + quad = hex.

  • +1

I didn't do more research before purchasing but this is indeed the Taiwan version which does not have an unlock for the bootloader yet. There is no way to root this phone.
