    Thanks.. just got one..

  •

does that work, right out of the box? Or do I need a 3 sim to make it work?

  •

    Specifications:
Downlink: HSDPA 7.2 (typical speeds from 600kbps to 4 Mbps)
Uplink: HSUPA 5.7 (speeds up to 1Mbps)
    3G UMTS Band Support: 850/1900/2100MHz
    2G UMTS Band Support: 850/900/1800/1900MHz

    i.e. no 900MHz 3G for Voda, Optus.

And note that prepaid data on 3 is not as good as postpaid.
especially, you do not get a direct internet connection with a public IP address.

kshit: sim is included with prepaid devices.

      thanks bro, just ordered one.

    •

      Just wondering,

How does a Post-Paid would worked better than a Pre-Paid for Wireless BroadBand?

    •

"And note that prepaid data on 3 is not as good as postpaid.
especially, you do not get a direct internet connection with a public IP address."

      Got proof for that one?

As far as I am aware, each modem can be either used for Post-Paid or Pre-Paid and the Billing option does not affect the Connection you receive or IP Address for that matter.

      •

Yes you can use this modem on postpaid, but then you would just pay $69 for a prepaid modem with less data.
Unless it has changed, prepaid only had the '3services' APN, which gives a NAT-ed IP address. This can be a problem if you use VPN or incoming VoIP, for example.
You need "3netaccess" for a direct internet connection.
Also, I have read reports of greater congestion on prepaid, but that may be outdated. See whirlpool for more.

  •

    nice deal.

  •

Does anyone know how you go about unlocking this modem?

    • +1 vote

Its Pre-Paid so if you unlock the modem in the first 12 months its $199. After 12 months, its free.

  •

Nice deal, especially as it had 365 days to use the quota..
    Shame I can't get any reception where I live…

  •

Can you get 10% money back with MBC on this deal?

  •

I tried this the last time they did it. After harvesting my CC info they canceled the order and didn't email me to let me know. Meanwhile I cancelled with my other provider and waited for the parcel to arrive. When I phoned to ask why they cancelled it (after I check to see WTH was going when it hadn't arrived over a week later) they wouldn't answer. Buy at your own risk!

  •

I also tried this the last time they did the same discount offer but got my order canceled too (3 said that my CC provider declined the transaction). I wonder if this has anything to do with MBC, as I ordered via MBC website.

Anyway does anyone know if 3 deliver using Australia post or courier?
    the order page says
"The card holder must present the credit card used for the purchase at the time of delivery"

does it mean if you're not home they won't deliver?

    •

      What is MBC?

EDIT: I suspect the line they fed you about the provider declining the transaction was BS that they tell their phone jockeys to say, hoping you will blame your CC company and not them.

mbc - money back co. Have a quick google, but OzB & MBC are affiliated.

Ess4entially companies offer a percentage off their goods. You join MBC (free), and the first $10 earned goes towards membership, and from then on all the money goes to you. Seems a much fairer way that just paying $10 up front imo

  •

Well that would be poopy if they did cancel because I used MBC!

    http://shop.three.com.au/prepaid-broadband

Lists the Prepaid E1756 Internet Key for $79 having 12GB Data, a mistake but what are 3 like with honouring such advertised mistakes?

    •

Cant see that anywhere, are you sure you read it right?

      •

it's fixed now, had the "12GB data" image where the "free antvirus for 12 months" image is now

  •

Looks a good deal. Just ordered one.
