LG G4

Missed out on this phone on the last eBay 15% off sale at the beginning of this year I believe and been waiting for the price to drop ever since. I would buy it if it went under $450 for AU stock. So roughly when would the price of the G4 drop significantly considering the G5 is just around the corner?

  • The price should fall down to $450 very very soon. I'd say within the next month or month and a half.

I bought my LG G4 a few months ago for $496 after a 5% discount with eglobaldigitalcameras. So a further $46 discount isn't too far-fetched considering that the G5 has just been announced and will be released soon.

    • OP wants local stock though, pretty sure eglobaldigitalcameras sell grey stock.

Ah my bad, missed the local AU stock bit!

  • I've got the G3 and love it. Except sometimes it lags pretty hard when switching between apps or going back to the home screen. I assume it's because it's only got 2GB RAM. Would 3GB RAM on the G4 make a difference?

Your G3 is probably throttling CPU speed due to excess heat. It's a known issue with the Snapdragon chipset used in it.

    • Was yours a grey model from ebay?

      • No I got it from a Vodafone store for $429 from a deal posted here back in Dec of 2014

Upgrade to Marshmallow. Haven't noticed the lag since update a week ago.

      • Mine never finds the update. Am I doing something wrong? Update centre finds nothing :(

        • hi, LG hasn't released the OTA update yet but you can install the kdz update with a pc to get the update now.

          edit: for the g3

And this is why I stick to my basic iphone, lag isn't acceptable.

Current price for Aussie stock with 2 year local lg warranty is $593. Honestly doubt it will drop to $450 in 1.5 months time.

Aus stock LG G3 is still hovering around $450 mark currently, so don't think local G4 will drop to that range any time soon outside of a clearance.

    • G3 is $399 from wireless1. I was under the impression that they sell au stock, but could be mistaken. In any event, the OP is after a G4, whereas I'm in the process of deciding between the two.
Are the differences worth an extra $190?

      • in regards to Aussie stock, g4 is a more future proof upgrade as Aussie g3 models have 2gb ram / 16gb storage. G4 has 3gb ram / 32gb storage. However a g3 grey stock can be found with 3gb ram / 32gb storage. So depends on what stock you want, and if you want the superior camera, future updates, and performance of the g4 vs the cheaper yet still solid g3 which probably is reaching the end of the line in regards to Android updates from lg.

      • I'd definitely go with the G4

  • I second eglobal..

    Bought a g3. Now a g4 . very happy

  • I love this phone but the battery is a killer! With heavy usage the battery is dead in half a day.

    • I am reasonably sure all of them are the same. With my usage it holds for 36-38h (meaning I have to charge it every 2 nights). No phone of mine was better.

  • I'm also on the hunt for a G4. Noticed eglobal have the Nexus 5x 32Gb for $483+freight. But prefer the G4, maybe eglobal can gives us a good price for the G4?? Hoping…

  • For AU stock? Another 6 months to a year.

  • You will have to wait a couple of weeks, or even longer. The G4 took a while to get to Aus.

  • Have LG G2 working fine, no desire to spend half a thousand to change. OS is 4.4.2 KitKat, nothing higher available. Is this as far as it will ever update?

    • My g2 updated to 5.0.2 for months now, still very good except lags going to home screen or switching apps. Also geta hot near the camera lens when use for a while

      • Thanks. Wonder how to get this. Phone says I'm up to date.

        • May be your phone has ego..

      • Is your phone Aussie or international model? I'm using an imported one from Kogan (d802) and it hasn't got any updates since the day I bought it.

        • Can't remember it's been so long! Doubt if it's Kogan but perhaps it was. Pretty sure it was some sort of grey import though. Model LG-D802 32GB.
Whether or not it can be further upgraded, it still does everything I need, and the camera is fantastic.

  • I bought G4 for ~425$AUD on early October 2015 from QD ebay(Grey Import though). If you want Australian stock, I think you need to wait for another 6 months

  • What about this G3 for $265? Much cheaper alternative to the G4. Disclaimer, this is the USA model.
