Christmas came early folks: LG G4 will begin getting Android 6.0 Marshmallow next week http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_g4_will_begin_getting_android_60_…

    • Word on the street, G3 will be getting Marshmallow within a month also.

  • +4

I think this is the cheapest the G4 Leather has ever been.
    I crumbled and purchased.
I'm quite satisfied with my G3 but the G4's camera, I must have.
    So thanks a lot mofo.

Let's see if I can make a profit selling my G3 on Gumtree.

  • +1

Purchased as well, but so long since I used ebay that my address is incorrect (paypal address is correct, but it appears that it used the ebay one anyway) :-/ Now trying to cancel or redirect the order. PITA.

    • I remember an item being sent to my outdated paypal address even though I entered my correct address in the ebay section.

      • Odd, I've got the opposite problem, the item is being sent to my outdated ebay address even though my paypal one is correct! They must have changed how things work. I didn't really think about it, just assumed that they'd ask what address I wanted it sent to…

Did you end up getting things resolved?

        • It ended up beneficial as the seller re-sent, then one of my old housemates brought the mail round and it was in there. And the seller refused to take money for the second card when realised what had happened.

Pretty bad setup on ebay's part IMO. There should be a warning promp at payment.

Could have ended much worse with an expensive item and the lack of access to precious property

        • @Mrgreenz: Cool, they cancelled my order for me so I can replace it.

          But now I'm tossing up a 64GB Galaxy S6 instead…

  • +1

Darn, wish I could find a Dual SIM version where I can use the discount code, anyone?

How much bloat do LG add to their phones?

Previous Sony and Samsung phones have always been loaded with a fair bit of useless guff whichcan be disabled but I have always had issues with something breaking whenever i have gone down that path.

Currently on a Nexus 5 so I am enjoying the standard Google offering with minimal extras bundled.

    Thanks

    • +1

Still has bloatware loaded but again can be disabled and won't interfere with your experience if you don't touch it. Unfortunately you won't get that clean Nexus experience, but still decent.

    • Had the G Flex 2. Awful phone, super laggy, really bad battery life, even after the upgrade. I'm betting on Zenphnone 2 this time

      • Should have done your research before buying. The G Flex 2 was universally panned.

        • -1

I know.. But they said it became better after 5.1, which it did not. The battery life, especially standby time, was the worst I've ever seen. I doubt G4 has the same problem since, well, LG..

      • My G Flex 2 is great, no lag and good battery life. Strange

        • Really? Mine had less than 8 hours of battery life, losing ~20% per hour and super laggy. There's a lot of people with the same issues online.

    • +1

In exactly the same boat. LOVED the stock Android on my Nexus 5 and just fiddling around with Samsung's TouchWiz or the LG G4 at a local JBHIFI made me crinch a bit. We are spoiled having the most naked version of Android without any bloatware. I'm going to install the Google Now Launcher which should make it look a lot like stock Android and will be using most of the Google apps (Chrome, Hangouts, etc) to make it more like stock android.

At the end of the year the phone should be running Cynagonmod as it's actively worked on at the moment (first Alpha is already released!)

      • Yeah, hoping so, I'm buying in the hope that Cyanogenmod support is coming, have been keeping my eyes peeled and it does seem likely now.

      • Same here. Not a friend of bloatware but the multi window looks awesome. Can't believe this is not standard.

        • Android M has it

  • +7

cheaper than $458 that we paid ARGH

    • +3

And 4% cash back mate. You must be spewing!

      • -1

YES, I bet HEAPS of people ARE!

      • About $20 cheaper than I paid 2 weeks ago in the 15% off eBay sale after cashback.

        • Hey Man, did you get it through QD_AU as well? how long did it take for delivery?!

          LaMMi

        • @lammi: Less than a week :)

    • thought $458 would be the lowest!!! Can't believe it lols. Plus cashrewards, it will be $425. What a bargain!!! I should have kept my money till this deal lols

      • +2

Can't read the future can we? This is with qd bumming the price up from $539 and with eBay 20%off+ more cashback far out…!

At least G4 is in my hands typing this

    • Damn you ebay ! I wont bow to your phychological warfare strategy to bring my morale down over $33 depreciation value in 3 weeks

Ps :I reckon phone is neither camera or wedding related

I will pretend that the g4 value already depreciate after v10,nexus 5x & g5-tring came out + its already 2016 to make me just slightly regret

    • +1

      It's like a $10 difference? That's nothing.

      • $20 , don't forget that now ebay have 4% Cashback

  • People who bought this from a previous sale, does the leather version come with plastic backing as well?

    • NO

      • Is it possible to swap the leather back to a plastic one? I'd be using it while getting a little sweaty :)

        • +1

YES if you are going to buy one.

        • +1

You can also buy it in plastic back, same price tho

        • @CodeXD:

I could only see the White and Gold in plastic from QD.

Can anyone recommend a good replacement back that isn't expensive, or a decent case?

        • +1

          @xeion:

Personally I'd say get the leather back, then buy one of the plastic back with 'quick circle' case jobs (with Qi charging) as a secondary back/case. eg http://www.androidcentral.com/quick-hands-lg-g4s-new-quick-c…

A benefit of changeable backs is you can use the appropriate one depending on use/mood.

        • @sane:

I bought a third party quick circle case off eBay it doesn't charge but NFC works

        • @neonlight:

Qi charging is a matter of a $10 sticker, see Youtube.

        • @sane:

The case comes with the sticker but doesn't charge.

As if this phone needed any more love - except a global rollout soonish.

    • Andd… its released.G4 got Android M..
LG is killin it nowadays ;)

      • Yep Life's Great upgraded from Good

      • So you updated to 6.0?
        Was it OTA

  • Thanks OP… bought an Xperia Z3 for $482 with the 20% discount from T-Dimension!

  • Finally pulled the trigger on this phone. Here's hoping no hiccups with QD!

  • can anyone confirm if this purchase qualifies for TRS?

    • I looked at it this morning, and it seems to ship from overseas. So no unfortunately! Otherwise, I'd grab one.

      • thanks for that info

  • G4 is an awesome phone, you wont regret. Only fault I see is the battery drain at times - it dont bother me. I Love it!

  • Hey will 4G work for the G4 on an Amaysim plan?

    • +1

Yep. I have a G4 and with with Amaysim. Works great..

      • Thank you, can't wait to use the phone!

  • FML, just when i press bought from paypal.. gone..

  • Almost sold out of all variants. This one's been oz bargained hard!

    • Not really. There is still a decent chunk of stock left for non-leather versions.

  • This or S6 which is about $90 more expensive? I've been usin iPhone since 2008 but I think it's time for change..

  • +2

Got notification that mine had been shipped. Hope to have it early next week.

    • +1

Hey Man, What time and which one did you order!? I ordered at around 1pm yesterday for the Black Leather version and haven't received any notifications yet! :(

      LaMMi

      • Hey mate.
I ordered at about 11am. Not long after the deal was posted.

Got the black leather. Hopefully yours will be in the way soon.

      • Mine still hasn't been shipped :(

  • Hi Folks,

After a long research for the case-stand and car-phone-holder I came to conclusion that these 2 item is useful and multipurpose for G4

    1. Would definetely reccomend this case as I reckon that the leather is quite slippery and not that grippy.
Most importantly it can stand vertically which is very practical and useful if you're playing game on fullscreen on PC (Witcher 3) and want to do some googl-ing about the item/quest info.

    2. This one is very useful and practical ,definetely multipurpose

Any other input about useful accesories will be gladly taken to help us G4 buyer (especially with the OZB anthem tanny-brown leather color)

    • I picked a screen protector… Had a Nilkin on the g3 and even after breaking the glass is still great.

    • Sorry I can't edit my comment as I edit and make some improvement for like 1 hour.

  • +3

    Hi Folks,

After a long research for the case-stand and car-phone-holder and other accesories, I came to conclusion that these 5 item is useful / multipurpose for G4:

    1. Would definetely reccomend (this case)[http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/400986416868?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&var=670515332343&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT] as I reckon that the leather is quite slippery and not that grippy.
Most importantly it can stand vertically which is very practical and useful if you're playing game on fullscreen on PC (Witcher 3) and want to do some googl-ing about the item/quest info.

    2. This car-phone-holder is very useful and practical ,definetely multipurpose

    3. As for battery I would reccomend extra 1 or 2 battery as it's quite drainful if you use it heavily. It might be a good idea to buy a cheap one and doesn't have to be genuine as you use the spare battery very rarely. This dock station is quite convenient and cheap , not sure about the quality, but hey it's for spare un-genuine battery(You can use your own spare 2v 5a Power adapter as it's not included)

Even though this 6800mAh battery will make your phone last much longer , I wouldn't reccomend to buy it as it was very bulky. More over, there's is no dock station for this battery as it was unusually incredibly-thick and you can't use the leather case & definetely have to use the case which come with it.

Xiaomi powerbank (or any other powerbank) is good but I reckon it's too bulky too cary around and you have to keep the connection in order for the battery to fully charged. I used to carry it around and when I power-walk or run abit my shorties got slippery (unless if you wearing jeans you southerners)

    1. This genuine temper glass (definetely have to be genuine as you won't risk your fragile important screen)

    2. Quick circle case (optional). I wouldn't reccomend the genuine one as I personally believe that wireless charging is useless especially if you're at your house at night as you will likely to use it in your bed. Not sure if this case will block NFC or not

Any other input about useful accesories will be gladly taken to help us G4 buyer (especially with the OZB anthem tanny-brown leather color). Also the warning about the quality item would be really happily taken as we can discuss the chinese and genuine quality difference

  • no more black and brown leather ones?

    • Is back.. You can buy now.. : )

    • nah too expensive, i'm just going to get gold….

  • How is G4 compared to G3? Is there a huge difference in day to day use?

  • +1

Thanks OP. I got myself the gold metallic model.

What are some actual good covers that offers good protection? I do not mind if it is a bit bulky as i normally use my mobiles a fair bit & sometimes gets dropped, so i do not want it to get damaged. I did google it & there wernt many common recommendations so i thought i would ask here in case people that already have the G4 would have something good to recommend.

I also will be getting a tempered screen protector just to protect the screen.

  • +1

Missed the leather ones yesterday. Ended up getting a Gold. Thanks.

  • Did anyone had his code rejected? Anyone get charged full amount? Anyone had his phone dispatched?

    • +1

Code worked. Got charged the discounted price and got an email yesterday saying it's been sent.

  • Only Gold and white left?

    • Now all leathers one is back as well as others.. : )

  • +1

Well mine went through fine, and has been posted yay!

Though I had a heart attack when I checked the paypal transaction, cause the basic view showed that I paid the full $559.

Upon reviving, I noticed that they put
    "15 Oct 2015 - Voucher - Completed - Details - $111.80 AUD"
as a payment method as well as my bank transfer; checked my bank statement which shows the $447.20 amount (phew)

  • +3

It is back in stock! Red, Brown, Black in the leather :)

  • +1

Beware of the revised term and condition by e-Bay on this code ending TONIGHT 16 October instead of 20 October.
    http://pages2.ebay.com.au/Buyer_coupons/wedding20

This offer commences at 14.00 (AEDT) on 15 October 2015 and ends at 23.59 (AEDT) on 16 October 2015 (“Offer Period”).

  • Have been holding off buying a G4 since I sold my IPhone 6 plus a month ago but had recently decided to wait for the Nexus 6P but this phone is $550 cheaper than Nexus will be so bit the bullet and just ordered the Red Leather G4. Knowing that Marshmallow isn't too far away makes me happy as using it on my old Nexus 5 and am quite impressed.

    • I'm in the same boat.. I was gonna wait for the 6P but yeah… it'll be $550 more. I'm really not sure which way to go yet!
My S5 is a piece of crap and I swore I'd get a nexus next time.

      • +2

Mate. Just grab the g4, in a few months the 6p should be cheaper.

The LG software for me is better than touchwiz which I hated and marshmallow is around the corner.

Sure pure android is great. Had the nexus 4&5 in the past. But at these prices how can you go wrong.

        • Yeah.. grab it first, worse come to worse sell it away, might even profit.

        • @Clementt: I got it. Thanks a lot guys ;)

  • Anyone please help me to choose between G3 and G4….currently i am using Galaxy s3

    • G4.

    • I am using Galaxy S3 too, so… $447.20 for G4. I would say Buy it!

  • LG G4 is back people! Time to buy..

  • Yeah its back. But the estimated delivery is up to three weeks now. Seems that they are still in the process of restocking but selling these now to AGAIN benefited from eBay promotion

  • T&Cs have been revised. Offer ends midnight tonight 16/10
    http://pages2.ebay.com.au/Buyer_coupons/wedding20

    • +2

Thanks, I caved and bought the phone and copied your glass and case purchases.

Mrs also maybe less than impressed - going to try to sell the idea of taking better photos of the kids than my Nexus 4 does.

  • hey it has taken the full price from my paypal account,is that normal?

    • no

      • the right amount from my bank account though…I was close to an heart attack.
that's weird, the discount is registered on the transaction but the amount of the full transaction on paypal appears to be the full price

  • +4

I'm coming from a very old Samsung Galaxy Nexus, which is getting very laggy even on Cyanogenmod, so needed a hardware upgrade. Up to and including the Nexus 5 I was a big fan of the nexus series (good software support, decent hardware, great price), so was hoping to upgrade to the previous Nexus (the 6) and the latest Nexus (the 5X), but the price is just too high for both relative to the alternatives. So had been considering the LG G4. To help decide made a list of pros and cons to getting the LG G4, if it helps anyone else:

    pros:
Much better than my current phone (3 years and 3 months old Samsung Galaxy Nexus).
3G RAM - 3 X the RAM better than current 1 GB, and better than the 2GB found in the nexus 5X. RAM has been the one of the biggest limitations of current phone.
Almost total 4G coverage (only missing band 40, 2300 Mhz, which is used by optus - has full coverage on Telstra + Voda). With Cat 6.
Lovely camera (with 3.2 x the pixels of current). Better camera than the 5X. Has OIS.
Marshmallow update due very soon (first non-nexus to get the update).
    MicroSD memory card slot.
    removable battery.
Size is about as big as I would want to go at the moment.
3.9 X the CPU, based on cores * MHZ (not really a good measure, but I use this as a ballpark benchmark)
Price at ~$425 after cash-back is the most reasonable of the current flagships (and 40% less than the $699 price estimate for the comparable nexus 5X 32GB model).
Same CPU and GPU and chipset as the Nexus 5X, so increases the chance of improved 3rd party software support in the future.
32 GB internal storage, versus 16 GB on current phone and on the base level nexus 5X. 16 GB is just too small now.
Bigger screen with higher res than both current and the 5X.
Has a notification LED, unlike the nexus 5X, and like current phone.
Wireless charging, unlike current phone, and unlike Nexus 5X.
    infrared port.
    FM Radio.

    cons:
No cyanogen support at this stage [there is an alpha version though]. And no support direct from Google, unlike the nexus 5X.
Not stock android - has been skinned.
20 grams heavier than current phone + nexus 5X.
No fingerprint scanner. Could perhaps be useful later for android pay, and is in the latest nexus devices.
Not dual SIM. But almost every dual SIM phone has the second SIM on 2G, which is due to become obsolete end of 2016, so limited advantage to a dual SIM phone until this changes.

    Conclusion:
Decided to buy the LG G4 through this deal, in black leather. Got in just before it expired.
Also got this screen protector: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/171810745825?_trksid=p2057872.m27…
And this case in black: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ultra-Slim-Quick-Circle-Clear-Win… … I'm not sure if it's the best case, but it looks interesting to try, is inexpensive, and want to get some kind of case as I have toddler who is hard on phones.

    • +1

That's wireless charging* with a petty huge asterix.
