A Friend Wants to Set up an Online Store

Hi guys,

A friend has been working at markets selling a few different things and is keen to establish an online store where people can buy his products.

He's keen to avoid ebay, and is interested in getting opinions about online store packages, or an "off the shelf solution." It doesn't need to be overly complex. He's not very tech-savvy, so user friendliness is a must. Through podcast addictions, I have checked out squarespace, but am keen for other options and opinions!

If you have any advice, or recommendations, or warnings, please let me know

Many thanks

svenson

Shopify or WooCommerce and don't look back.

It is so simple these days. Wix or Shopify are the main options. But starting a successful ecommerce business and finding he right product is very difficult.

    big commerce is another option.

If he's selling things at markets, maybe www.etsy.com is an option?

Host it on wordpress with woocommerce, nice and easy, plenty online help available and costs almost nothing.

this would be more than enough to get things going:

+1 for wordpress and woocommerce. Quite easy to set up, you can just offer paypal at first and then once you have momentum pay for a gateway & SSL to accept credit card payments.

Try BigCommerce, Shopify, out of the box solution, very easy to setup and manage, I am happy to help for free! PM
