Ergoflex Memory Foam Mattresses - Sale & Free Shipping - Sngl $499, Db $799, Qn $999, Kg $1199

Was in the market for a single memory foam mattress, and came across Ergoflex. Ergoflex aims to compete directly with Tempur, which is the gold standard in memory foam. Contrary to cheap memory foam mattresses, Ergoflex makes them to the same specs as Tempur, and provides a 10 year warranty. The reviews are excellent:

I came across a coupon on www.ozdiscount.com for free shipping, which saved me $100 (strangely enough that coupon disappeared from Ozdiscount, but it still works).

I received the mattress yesterday (<7 days to WA - faster than Australia Post), and can say it feels very similar if not the same as the Tempur I normally sleep on. It is much cheaper, however. Pity I did not know about Ergoflex 2 years ago.

For those not in the know about memory foam mattresses: they shape according to your body, but provide better support than normal foam. The Ergoflex matresses use the same memory foam density as Tempur (85kg/m3), contrary to all the cheapies out there. See Ergoflex's sales explanation. Memory foam is very good for (most) people with back problems.

Ergoflex has a "sale" (which they have very often), but the free shipping saves you between $60-$130, making it a real bargain.

Prices
Single - $499
Long Single - $549

  • Have found mine to be really good! Their customer support is excellent too

  • I've had my ergoflex for just over 3 years and have really liked it.

I can't help but think that there are better technologies now for example Koala Mattress which is made from multiple layers of things to give you the best of all words instead of just memory foam for example.

Having said that I haven't tried any of these new mattresses that have popped up in recent years, I've just heard good things about them.

    • Yea,
I too am looking at Koala.
My last memory foam mattress lasted 3 years before it started to sag and cause back issues.
So I hope Koala live up to their word, would love to hear some actual testimonials and comparisons to latex and memory foam mattresses.

      • There's memory foam and then there's memory foam though. My research before stumbling across Ergoflex was that all other memory foam mattresses had a density of around 35-45kg/m3, compared to 85kg/m3, and a 1-year warranty vs. 10-year. That's a huge difference.

The Koala ones have good reviews. But the website does not give much information about how it is made, or what it is made of. It mostly provides subjective information about how comfortable it is.

I found the positive reviews on ProductReview for the "Koala Mattress" a bit suss, given that they have hardly any concrete information about the materials or composition of their mattresses. I suspected that perhaps people were getting rewarded to leave a review. Sure enough:

        Check out http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2473017
        Look for:

I can tell you exactly what is with them. Post purchase, you get an email from a 'founder' of Koala offering you a $25 coles myer voucher for a review on productreview.com.

        and

What disappointed me is that I recently received an email from the CEO with a link to this website, asking me to post an "Awesome Review" and promising a $25 Cole's gift card in return

        Based on that page:

        • Koala mattresses are made of "a" memory foam, but who knows what type and what density
        • People are coerced to leave good reviews. I mean c'mon, 4.9/5.0???

My recommendation is to go with a longer-established brand at a lower price, who clearly advertise what their product is made of instead of fluffy sales talk boosted by dodgy reviews.

    • I love my Koala, delivered in 2 hours for King size for $999

      • +6

Your gift card is in the mail.

      • I don't think reviews on Ozbargain qualify for the gift card, contrary to what Eightimmortals is suggesting :)
Seriously, how do those people get away with it?

        • Confused. Bought one with a $50 off voucher. Ordered at midday, at my door before 2pm. Is very comfortable…

        • +1

@2jzzzz: Read my comment above. Koala is paying people in gift cards for positive reviews on Productreview.com.au , which is why this product is supposedly "highly rated". Eightimmortals was implying you were leaving a review here in the hope of getting a gift card.

I'm sure it is comfortable, but will it last? What is a 15-year warranty worth from a company which "buys" reviews? I doubt they will be around that long with such business practices.

  • How is compared to Latex? I prefer firm base mattress.

    • Ergoflex says it is "medium firm", which I would agree with. This is not a mattress you will sag into.
Memory foam, particularly of this density and quality, is likely better than latex (personal uneducated opinion).

  • Had my mattress for 4 years now and still think it's one of the best out there. Very similar to Tempur at a fraction of the price.

If you read the most helpful review on Product Review, you'll find a good review of it ;-)

No issues in warm climate as I used it up in the NT for a couple of years.

    • +1

It is very hot for me, but then no issues with a fan on.

      • Buy latex and save on electricity bill. It feels like you're sleeping on a block of ice.

  • i bought a nottinblu mattress a few years back and it's very comfortable.

only issue is it stores heat way too much so in summer it's no that comfortable. i tend to have the run the aircon a lot more due to this.

not sure if newer memory foam mattresses overcome this issue or not.

  • I bought an Ergoflex a few years ago. It was ok for me but my wife did not like it at all. I did find that it got warm, and was pretty firm. Whilst comparable to Tempur it's definitely not the same.

Ended up putting it in the garage and bought a multilayered spring with foam comfort layers mattress. Find it much more comfortable, but it's also fairly more expensive.

  • It is hot and hard even with cooler sheets being used, correct slate widths and whatever else the super friendly sales team will tell you. DO not kid yourself it is not like a Tempur matress or just a bit firmer or whatever else they say. Oh and if you think you can lift a Queen Size or bigger by yourself with any ease…forget it.
In addition the smell hangs around for 2 weeks and is pretty strong.

Source: - owned for a few years, wife likes I don't like in summer but bearable in Winter.

    • Yes, they are heavy and quite awkward to handle (once out of the shipping wrapper). I have a queen and can just move it and lift it. Would like a King size but that would be too heavy. Then I thought - you could get two long singles which would be almost identical in dimensions (just 1cm wider) and far easier to handle. Since they are quite firm, the split may not be a problem, unless you get into some very vigorous activity in the centre of the bed.

Also $100 cheaper than a King.

These are normal prices, you are unlucky if you see prices higher than this. Refer whirlpool.

    • +1

I did mention that in the description. The bargain is the free shipping.

  • Got Sleeping Duck Firm - very very happy. Now let's see whther it will last. Vendor seems confident with 10 y warranty.

    • +1

My 2c… as I was looking at ergoflex, ozmattress and sleeping duck. Whirlpool has threads on all these brands if you're questioning product review website.

I ended up with the grandmaster ozmatress 2200 and I'm very happy. The supra is in the 1500 price range and I have experienced that also.

I'm actually quite positive about these online matress companies, given the silly expense of having a showroom and the silly price non-disclosures at many big retail showrooms and Harvey normals etc.

  • Been on the ergo for 4years now. It's heavy and I haven't rotated or anything but seems to hold up well.

Very comfy but can be warm like everyone else said.

  • Is there a way to avoid to get too hot on that kind of mattress? Like buying a cooling layer or upgrading to a certain model?

I'm quite torn about it as i can't seem to find a good coil for about a 1000 dollars, foam sounds alright but I can't picture myself sweating myself out everynight

    • I think it is wrong to assume that every person is sweating like crazy on these. I have heard similar things for Tempur, yet I don't find it any problem (it's the same material at the same density). For some people it is, but for many it isn't. Look at the reviews on ProductReview - plenty of happy people there. And a normal mattress gets hot too, depending also on what type of mattress protector you use.
Apparently Ergoflex lets you return the mattress if you are not happy, so you could consider taking advantage of that.

      • You have a fair point, I'll contact them concerning their return policy and see what happens.

I will kee an eye open for promos on mattress as I need one in about 2 weeks, HN has a 50% off on selected mattress at the moment but their rpp is ridiculously high to begin with. If anyone knows a good promo on coil or other foam, Feel free to pm me :)

    • You can put a mattress protector on. Problem is, the memory foam is meant to react to your body heat so it may or may not affect the moulding effect of the foam.

      • You need to buy a very skinny one. Ergoflex sells them, but they're not cheap. Nor are the Tempur ones, which are comparable.
