I pay $680 AUD to Hong Kong which it is 9:15 hours flight time so this is not a bargain.

    • Hit my daily negging cap..
but this is not how you value a bargain when it comes to flying. It is not necessarily proportional to flight time and depends very much on a whole variety of factors other than just flight time.

For example, something like SYD-LDH (Lord Howe Island) is $1000ish for a cash ticket. How long's the flight? 2 hours.

      • Ok let say Scoot is selling it for $85 one way + luggage and meal I would say $300 for return and how you classify this as a bargain?

I am not negging this deal just saying it is not a real bargain.

        • Yes I wasn't disagreeing with you to say that this wasn't a deal.. $659 SYD/MEL-SIN specifically for Qantas is not bad, but for someone like me (and you it seems) if you know Scoot sometimes has sales for $300 return then this isn't that great a deal for us.

My point was simply that you can't judge it on "flight time" alone and that was the only thing you mentioned. You have introduced another factor into the equation (Scoot, i.e. another airline, meaning there is competition). I was giving you an example of why you can't use flight time (alone) to judge whether something is a bargain or not.

I think the fact its flying with a non budget airline factors in as well. Agreed the gap between budget and non budget is closing in onboard offerings but Qantas versus scoot or air asia is still a big difference.

    • true, I found Scoot and their new 787-9's and sitting in the 'quiet zone' to have been a much more enjoyable experience than when flying with Qantas (economy) and Air Asia (quiet zone)

      • I think naughtynaughten meant Qantas is better than both Scoot and AirAsia though

  • It's probably code-shared with Jetstar, anyway.

Ah, but they include a microwaved meal in the price. And they serve you first!!!!!

QF37/38 are Qantas operated flights, not Jetstar.
