Hi all,
I'm currently in the market for a lawn mower for a block of approx 1,000 sqm. It will be operated by my parents who are in their late 50's so I would appreciate something light and powerful (if something like that exists).
Any suggestions welcome!

The lawns are very flat and quite rectangular so it makes it fairly easy to mow. The only issue is the sheer size and the frequency of mowing during summer. I will look into the Hondas. Thank you!
How big is the house? Some houses are so big that there is very little lawn. +1 for Honda.
Excluding the house, I'd say it's approx 700 sqm of total lawn including the nature strip.
That is a lot of lawn.

I noticed that one has a cutting width of 460mm, do you think it's a good idea to go for a wider one?
No. Generally, wider means less manoeuverable. My block is nearly the same as your parents'.
What do you guys think of mowers with mulching option? Seems very convenient. My concern is with weeds. The mulcher would spread the seeds from the weeds, while a catcher would remove the seeds.
Is it flat?
If so, Honda make some self propelled mowers that my older Dad said were quite good for his 750m2 block. He gave up a couple of years ago and just gets a bloke in these days, but he is 20 years older than your parents.
They are too heavy to hump up and down steps/different levels, however.
