Better to drink this with coke. Even normal Chivas is much better than Red Label imo. Plenty of better cheap blended scotches than JW Red.
Even Diageo say this is a mixer and NOT to drink it neat.
Also good when you need to punch someone.

For cheapies i reckon Monkey Shoulder, Ballantines, Chivas 12, throw in a Jamesons for irish whiskey. I don't mind JW black too much, Double Black is preferable but not as many good specials on it.@trev likes bargains: The double black has a very smokey taste/aroma and may take some getting used to, even more so than the slightly peaty notes of Johnnie Walker red.
Go for something decent like Vat 69 at around the same price.

IMO at around the same price for a Mixer Scotch, is Ballantines or even Grants, NOT Vat 69. Stretch the budget by a couple more bucks, and you'll find J&B is very nice, even when drinking neat.

Neat or with a mixer? I think JW Red neat is absolutely awful. I gave away the last bottle I had for free as I couldn't bring myself to drink it.
I drink my whiskey's straight which totally rules out JW Red.
Women at Sydney airport duty free tried to sell me this crap on the basis that it was very popular with Vietnamese so naturally I brought a couple of bottles of J&B.
I used to work for a partner of diageo and got free 'samples'. I drank the Blacks, gave away all the reds for xmas and didnt feel any remorse or guilt at all. Shit drink.
Black is ok although double black is way too peaty for me.
This is the most disgusting drink I have ever tasted. Certainly the worst Johnnie Walker scotch
