Edit: Apparently takes a 24 hours to activate.

"Send us a PM with a pic of your student card and we will reply with a promo code to add to your Cine Buzz account to give you access to this price! "In relation to receiving student benefits, we have checked your membership account and it is showing that you are eligible to receive student benefits. Please log out and back in prior to selecting a movie and you should be able to receive student pricing.

  • Cool

  • Not sure if this applies to all cinemas. I just tried the code on my account and it says that it updated, but no change to the ticket prices applied when I tested it on a few sessions. Anyone else get it to work for Chermside or Brisbane City?

  • Not valid at macquarie

  • I've edited the OP that it apparently takes a few hours to start working

  • any discounts for gold class/3D?

  • +1

PLEASE NOTE: If you are not a student and enter this code you will still get the discount but you are required to present an ACTIVE and valid student card upon purchasing ticket or redeeming ticket if purchased online.

"forgot my student ID - I'll pay the difference or have a refund thanks"

      • +2

yeah good luck with that, they won't do either of those on the spot they will tell you to contact the online customer service who don't issue refunds for anything even when its their fault. So don't expect your money back if you choose that gamble and lose (Good idea, i just know event cinema customer service is really bad)

    • Awwwww that sucks

My local hardly has anyone checking. If they do, they just look at my mobile screen & trust it, as their scanner supposedly doesn't work.

Every time, we chuckle that we shouldn't have bothered being legit… But so long as tickets are fair price, I'll support them.

    • I doubt anyone except maybe an over zealous manager would bother to check for the ID. Some cinemas have also installed self scanners now for online purchases so no human interaction required.

    • This is a generic code it changes the number every year. I can assure you I made the most of it when I was a student and I cannot remember a time when they did not ask for ID.

    • I've been asked a few times, usually around the start of a new promo code. Might work if you let them scan your phone for cinebuzz and say you don't have your wallet with you.

Damn, they increased in from $8 to $8.50 on Mondays…

  • I'm still using the old code which gives $8.00 tickets on Mondays.

    • I got an email saying that one was expiring?

  • +1

It says $10 on the site how did you get $8.50?

    https://www.eventcinemas.com.au/Cinebuzz/Landing?ReturnUrl=/…

    • Email I got for renewal earlier his week also said $10, was assuming this was a different code…

You will find the offers vary depending on your local cinemas, despite the code being the same. The expiry of this offer was also listed as June 30 on the flyer I received.

Brisbane Myer and Indooroopilly offer $7 tickets all the time under this code.

Chermside/Carindale/Garden City/Loganholme and more in the Brisbane area offer $7 tickets all day Monday-Thursday. This was the email I received the other day under the old code.

    "Hi

If only Event Cinemas was in Melbourne.. sigh

  • Nice now I can afford to watch Deadpool.

  • Be careful because they can and do sometimes check your student id when you go to collect and you won't get a refund.

  • is a uni student id acceptable?

    • +1

      Yeah still a student.

    • +1

Yes. Even if you are no longer a student ( if your card has a longer expiry like most do now)

I entered the promo code in yesterday but the tickets are the same price. Anyone else have this problem?

    • +1

Same here. Maybe they only update during weekdays?
I might just bite the bullet and pay $12.50 with Telstra's promo instead.

      • haha, think you were right. The offer is starting show for me now!
