How Do You Type a Previous Poster's Profile Link When Replying to a Post?

As per my heading, when replying to a previous post in a forum, many posts include the poster's profile ID link.
Thanks
:)

  • pyramid I'm trying to use your actual profile web page link for your profile. Not sure if this will work?
    Thanks
    :)

PS Did not show up in Preview comment as working. I thought it would be some code for profile link then putting in profile ID.
    Thanks again :)

There's no actual tag system on here yet (like a Facebook system), I believe Scotty is working on it for version 2.0 :)

If you see a name tag at the start of a comment, it's because it auto does it after about 4 replies in a comment chain that's all.

Hitting reply on someone's comment will notify them as I'm sure you're aware. If you want to reply to someone else in the same comment, you could always separate it into 2 replies to the different people

  • Following from what Spackbace is saying above, since this comment is not a "reply", will OP get a notification when I comment at this level - since OP did not subscribe to this thread?

Hi Margaret, if you see a notification, would appreciate very much if you can please let me know. Many thanks in advance :-)

I have always wondered about this, but I cannot tell since I have the AutoSubscribe setting on (which automatically subscribes me to any thread I create or post a comment to). So naturally, I will always get notified in such a situation.

If you are the OP of a post, you get a notification when someone posts a "new thread" comment… but if someone replies to an existing comment thread, you don't get a notification. Just my observations.

      • Thanks for your reply.
Let's say someone replies to an existing thread (and you are not the OP). So you don't get a notification even when they reply to you? Or just when they reply to others? Thanks again.

I just got a notification that you replied to me… does that help?

        • @bluedufflecoat: Yes, thank you. It means you will be notified if the reply is directed at you :-)

    • OK I just realise my misconception. Subscribing to a thread may not mean I will get notification, simply that I will get an email. Perhaps someone can confirm. Thanks.

  • The other question I have is this (sorry if it is a noob question).
So OP addresses pyramid in the above comment, by linking to pyramid's profile. Does this actually cause pyramid to get a notification?

    Thanks :-)
