  • So around $570 after cashrewards and TRS (if going overseas soon). Pretty decent price.

    • Not everyone going overseas soon. How lucky you are.

    • Only if Optus provides a full tax invoice… And I asked.. they said eBay invoice only.

But I bought it anyway, hoping that they will provide me with a Tax invoice with my name/address and their ABN

    • I bought it also as I was planning to claim it on TRS as well. Hopefully they do provide full tax invoice.

    • Reqs for the TRS are:
      A valid tax invoice includes:
      the words 'tax invoice'
the Australian Business Number (ABN) of the retailer
      the name of the retailer
the purchase price of the goods, including the GST paid
      a description of the goods
the date the purchase was made.

THis is bloody brilliant if so.

Bought one from last JB deal.

I am actually okay with the touchwiz skin but god, the phone is not that fluent, easily notice frame drops which means sudden lags. Hopefully the Android M upgrade said to be coming in March (yes, you did not see this wrong. Android M has still not arrived yet.) will fix the problem. If not, I suppose it is time for me to put the phone in 2nd hand market…

    • Noticed this lag as well.
Got the phone in the same deal you mentioned, happy with my purchase just hope they fix this issue.

        Pretty bad from Samsung
Why do they make people wait for the fix when we pay a premium for these phones. No where near the actual value(cost of goods including development, copying costs)with hefty margins

        • You sounded like an Apple iFan!!

        • @HandsomeMonkey:
          Haha
Never bought an iphone.I hate appple so much had note 2 note4 and now G4
Samsung became an apple ditto with not accepting their faults. Removed all the features people liked Samsung for
Apple charges a premium for the brand and Samsung copied that too
When fair comment is made either apple fan boy
          Or apple hater.

  • would this be preferable to the S6 from Kogan ebay which is approx $544 after cashrewards ?
so basically comparing local vs international stock and plain s6 vs edge

    • I think it depends on how long you intend to keep the phone. Local stock has 2 years warranty. If you sell the phone after a year, the remaining warranty would be a selling point.

If you'll keep it till it breaks, and don't mind going without a phone for a while if you do have to send it in to get fixed, then an import would be fine.

The $544 S6 is not the Edge btw.

      • Yep the $544 refers to the standard S6.

so for $30-$40 more I can get a local S6 Edge which as far as I know only has one minor difference (the edge sidebar thingy)…but thanks for your helpful points about local vs import. I usually keep phones for 2 years or so until next purchase.

        • In my experience, you tend to get more leverage with fair trading etc. if there's an issue and it's local stock.

I have a Zenfone2 from Kogan, as soon as mention of it being a grey import came up, there were a lot of umms and ahhs. ASUS also wouldn't accept the phone at the local service centre and wanted it shipped to Hong Kong.

  • I got the edge with the VR from a previous deal at $599. This is a good price indeed!

  • Thanks!

I'm selling my Nexus 6 and getting one of these instead.

As much as I love stock Android, the Nexus 6 is awkwardly large to handle for me, and has trouble fitting into the car cradle I have (iGrip extender)

  • Poor form Optus. On monday soon after the sale started they were offering this phone with a $30 sim…this has mysteriously disappeared and when I messaged to ask if it comes with a sim they just said no, sorry. No other explanations but it's obviously because of the sale. Looks like they also jacked up the price too:

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemRevisionDeta…

    • Are they not allowed to sell the phone without the sim?
Do you have any evidence they jacked up the price? Your link has no proof - they could have reduced the price.
Is this not still the best S6 Edge local-stock deal around?

      • the purchase price in history is different too and I highly doubt they would have reduced the price. hooray if they did.
No idea if this is the best deal, I don't even want an edge

        • the purchase price in history is different too

Nobody bought a single phone before this deal started, presumably because the phone listing was only put up on Monday.

One item was sold in Dec 2015 for $1; clearly it wasn't a phone. They changed the listing product category to this phone on Monday, the day this deal unofficially started. I say unofficially because eBay never sent out their usual email about it - it looks like their web developer released the banner ad/subtitle too early.

So no poor form on Optus' part - instead, thanks for giving us a good deal!

No idea if this is the best deal, I don't even want an edge

Er, why are you even here then?

        • @eug: Er, cause if it's better value than the S6 I might consider it?

To other helpful commentors I should probably clarify that I was looking at the purchase history of a different colour and model - and after having done so for the last couple of days I've probably mixed up the links and details I'm talking about. So feel free to ignore and carry on with your day unlesss of course you have time (and interest) to spend on disproving my big bad statements.

        • @strawberrybug:

It's easy to blatantly accuse a company of raising prices before a sale and changing the deal with no evidence isn't it?

It should be equally easy to admit making a mistake without having to resort to snarky remarks or diverting the topic. Everyone makes mistakes.

        • @eug: yes agreed but I still blame them, just saying. They make a lot of mistakes in my book.

  • Is this the cheapest s6 edge deal

    • No. There was a JB one in January which was cheaper. However that involved exchanging an old phone.

  • Anyone ordered this received their phone yet?
I ordered on 7 Mar and it mentioned "Estimated delivery Wed, 09 Mar - Fri, 11 Mar", however, no state update since then (it shows 'Paid but no sent').

    • +1

      no updates either.

      • Thanks gembel, just got a msg saying it would be delivered today, will see if it contains a tax invoice.

        • did your ebay order get updated to "Posted" and tracking provided??

        • btw did you get a msg from Optus or courier? Mine "Estimated delivery Thu, 10 Mar - Mon, 14 Mar", but haven't heard anything…

sent Optus a message but no reply :(

        • @gembel: yes, it changed to SEND with tracking number

        • @windbox: so you received email from Optus saying it will be delivered today?
i thought your ebay post status didnt get updated?

        • @gembel: sorry for the confusion, there was no email, but a sms from the delivery service that morning. Ebay post status got updated few hours after delivery.

        • @windbox: i see.. hmm still haven't received SMS :(

  • Can someone please confirm whether Optus has supplied a tax invoice or not

    • No tax invoice attached, only a delivery note :(

      • your ebay order showing "Posted"?

        • No, 'paid but no sent', this did happen for my last Target ebay order, at that time, the post state remained the same for a few days after delivery

        • @windbox: i asked them for a tax invoice and the messaged me one

        • @billsafi11: Thanks for the update

  • Regarding warranty, optus says theres 2 years manufacturers warranty. But they are not providing receipt or invoice. How to claim the warranty if something happens??

    • I'm going to one of the Optus shops to see if they can help with the invoice

      • any luck with invoice?

        • Nope :(
The staff in shop told me to call 13 39 37 and it was bit late, will call again during business hours tmr

        • @windbox: Any luck with invoice?

        • @runamuck: no, I gave up as I went overseas last Friday, couldn't get a tax invoice to claim GST in TRS in such a short time window. Anyway, it's a great phone with awesome camera but average battery life.

    • delivery note says "proof of purchase"

      • Yes, warranty is fine, but without the tax invoice you can't' claim GST in TRS

  • Black is out of stock

  • Thanks OP, just ordered one!

Nexus 6 is up for sale now…nice device it is but the size is practically nowhere for me.

Just an update: Got the phone today. No Tax Invoice provided. Worse still is the phone was dead on arrival. Cannot turn on at all, does not charge up when connect to charger. Not charger problem because it charges my old LG G2 without problems.

Called Optus for 2 hours, passed around between 4 departments and they cannot resolve my dead phone problem as well as provide a tax invoice, and I told them that it is illegal that they cannot provide tax invoice on purchases. Then around close to 8pm they said that they will call me back on Monday.

So after all these headache, I have requested return of item on eBay and refund of money …. and wait for 16 March for Ebay to step in.

Very frustrating especially I was hoping to get my GST back on TRS and I go overseas on 25 March.

    • Why refund? Surely they can swap it for you before you leave, and there should be a way to eventually get the tax invoice.

    • I got the same bloody issue, the phone is not dead but the screen is defective, without any invoice. And I am leaving literally tomorrow!

Do you have direct phone number or which department I should go to? It sounds to me they are trying to do something 'illegal'

      • what colour did you get?

        • Pearl white, why?

    • what colour is yours?

    • @EdisonAU - Any update whether Optus will provide an invoice?

      • Nope. After raising a case with Ebay, Ebay tried to contact Optus to no avail. So Ebay has asked me to post the phone back to Ebay on register post, and they will refund my money in 7-10 business days.

I bought a Lg G4 from Kogan for $370 instead. Will get the phone after I come back from overseas.

  • Does anyone else get this when they pay We're not able to process your payment using your PayPal account at this time. Please try again later.

    • I had this with my old Paypal account. I tried various workarounds (removing/re-adding cards/accounts)…eventually I closed it and opened another Paypal account and the issue went away.

      • thanks i did that and it worked fine

  • sorry to hear you guys didn't get a tax invoice, that sucks :(
It's still the best priced local stock from what I can tell.

  • My Ebay order hasn't been marked as posted yet, either for this or for the Z2 I ordered…

Did anyone else just have the device turn up without a tracking number posted to ebay?

  • i asked them for a tax invoice and the messaged me one

    • did you purchase as part of the ebay sale? that's a really good result

      • yeah

        • did you message them on ebay? I messaged them a few days ago to ask for a tax invoice…no reply

        • @strawberrybug: yup but they are very responsive on ebay i messaged them about 5 times before they answered

        • @billsafi11: haha did you mean unresponsive? thanks for the tip, I will message again.

        • @strawberrybug: oh yah whoops haha

  • I can't even get the purchase to work even after creating a new paypal account..ahhh!!

    • actually the purchase worked, ended up getting a white as the gold is sold out!

  • I just got the most dodgiest "tax invoice" from the ebay team. It doesn't have any Optus branding on it nor does it have the ABN. Ridiculous!! Honestly it looks like a microsoft word home job
