How about buying at Myer? Not 100% sure it works on 6s but worth asking them.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/237862

    • -2

      Someone confirmed 6s is excluded.

  • Can someone clue me up on the LG G4.. This would be a grey import I'm assuming. I thought I read something about worse reception on some bands/areas compared to locally delivered models?

    • +1

My friend is using the grey import one from hongkong, there is no problem with the 4g connectivity whatsoever. Although the price is not really a bargain for me, as lots of grey import stock seller also selling at this price currently.

    • -3

My friend bought grey import and it didnt work with fitbit.so had to return.

    • bought a couple during one of the deals mid last year (grey import of course) and it all good so far. Better than expected and updates are very regular.

    • +2

It will be the H815 (international/Hong Kong) model. Supports all bands except one that Optus has in Canberra.

      • Do you know if it's the Taiwanese version (locked bootloader)?

        • Taiwanese = International (H815), locked bootloader that you can unlock.

I think the Hong Kong variant is H815K.

    • +1

The H815 is the import version and unlike the H815T does not have 2300Mhz Band 40.

The thread below has some great information on the topic:
      https://community.optus.com.au/t5/Network-Coverage/Where-is-…

tl;dr from both a technical (Optus technician) perspective and a various customer perspective's the H815 allegedly works fine in Australia and the lack of B40 causes no significant issues.

  • Good price! As much as I tried there was just no cheaper than a $1049 at the time on ebay (brand new unopened) for the 64GB

  • Wow the iPhone looks good. How does warranty work with Kogan?

    • I guess one year standard Apple warranty once you activated the phone.

      • I guess one year standard Apple warranty once you activated the phone.

I don't know. The 128GB and the 64GB listings look very 'suspect'.

It says "Item Location : Melbourne Australia"

But it also says "Apple USB Power Adapter" and "AU/NZ Compliant Generic Power Adapter"

And it says that "This device is a network unlocked, international model and may differ slightly from local models. Kogan has no affiliation with the manufacturer"

Also states "iPhones purchased at Kogan may already be registered with Apple to guarantee your phone is unlocked when you receive it"

However, it does state "This Product is offered and supplied by Kogan Australia Pty Ltd pursuant to the Terms and Conditions."

Being sold and supplied by an Australian business would mean that an Australian Consumer Guarantee should apply. (At least Two Years).

        Very confusing…

        • Kogan sells grey imports (phones bought in China and then resold here). Although Apple's limited warranty may apply to an extent, Apple technically sees the phone as an international purchase which means ACL would not apply. If you need to have something covered by ACL or maybe warranty, you'll need to fight Kogan directly.

        • @Reticent:

          Kogan sells grey imports

This must be something very new.

Kogan HK Limited has always sold both grey import phones (phones imported to Hong Kong from USA, Europe, and other countries in Asia), and locally supplied Hong Kong market phones.

Kogan Pty Ltd (an Australian company) has never sold grey import phones (phones imported to Australia from other markets).

I'm disappointed, first product is an iPhone and there's no Android/Apple debate :(

You have to work harder those days to get what you want mate

    • get an WP instead, save more :)

    • -1

Why is that, do you/some people feel the need to insult someone over the phone they use?

      • +1

        Sour grapes syndrome.

  • Any recommendations of powerful dual sim mobile phones ? Many Thanks

Let the LTE signals flow through you

      • something mainstream on par with flagship specs, like Z5 compact?

  • +3

Can't believe that Kogan is selling a grey import of the iPhone (before discount) for more than Apple themselves

    • +4

They probably jacked up prices due to this promotion. No one would buy at original price offered by Kogan.

    I am waiting for EOFY E-Bay sale… :D

does it incur any GST import related fee for purchases above $1000 from KOGAN?

    • It should if it's shipped from HK warehouse. If they have some in a local warehouse it won't.

      • It should if it's shipped from HK warehouse. If they have some in a local warehouse it won't.

The 128GB iPhone listing (and the 64GB one) states "Item Location : Melbourne Australia", and that "This Product is offered and supplied by Kogan Australia Pty Ltd pursuant to the Terms and Conditions."

So, GST should have been paid.

        • It's best to ask Kogan. I really couldn't say for sure. Unless it's AU stock.

If it's HK stock that's sitting in an AU warehouse, I don't know whether GST will have been included.

        • @lostn:

          It's best to ask Kogan.

Yes, absolutely. They have made mistakes before with their iPhone listings.

If it's HK stock that's sitting in an AU warehouse, I don't know whether GST will have been included.

Under Australian Laws and Tax Legislation, if Kogan Pty Ltd import items from Kogan HK Limited (or anyone else) tax must be paid.

  • Kogan sold my mate Samsung S6 with Rooted firmware. He brought it to work to show me why it wasn't updating the software(firmware). I noticed it had SuperSu etc loaded. I checked the root status which confirmed it was rooted. He didn't want to update the correct firmware and returned the phone and said never again

Kogan refunded the money after 5 weeks of investigation and refund process!

    • Wow that's dodgy, definitely staying away from them now!

      • It was definitely headache getting this refund. They were not believing that the phone was rooted. I had to send the screenshots to them and finally after a week they told us to send the package back.
Kogan used to be good when I bought the HTC ONE X. Recently, all these companies are getting into dodgy business

  • +2

kogan is a (profanity) joke of a company

  • Just bought a g4 hoping kogan are on top of this. Seemed like a good phone for the price

    • +1

I am still waiting for it to drop more.

      • I would have but my HTC m7 barely holds a day charge without even using it, and it has the purple camera issue. 3 years heavy use is pretty good imo

        • Picked up a G4 too, manufacture date is Feb 2016 - so hopefully bootloop issues have been resolved in the hardware now

        • @klownz: I am hoping the 4G works in Canberra haha

        • @Dingus:

          Certainly for 3G :)

4G on Telstra should be OK?

        • @klownz: Telstra should work and surprisingly 4g on optus works too haha

  • Thanks bought what looked like the last I5 6400 but now it says 2 available lol.

  • Just purchased the iPhone 6 from Myers ( 128 gb for the price of 64 gb deal ) for 1079 aud . Used the big w 10% off gift cards to buy Myers gift cards for 1100 aud . Effectively cost me 972 aud . Needed it for anniversary present tomorrow . Now I wonder if I should have just bought through this eBay deal and waited for delivery . Was not ready to wait 2 weeks … Now I am having second thoughts if I should have gone for the 6s … Any thoughts guys ?

As it is to be a gift, you did the right thing. iPhones purchased from Myers are covered by Apple Australia for at least two years under the Australian Consumer Guarantee.

The 128GB and 64GB iPhones from Kogan Australia Pty Ltd are now confirmed to be 'grey' imports.

The 12 month warranty is supplied by Kogan Australia Pty Ltd and not Apple Australia.
As the 128GB and 64GB iPhones are being sold by an Australian business, Kogan Australia Pty Ltd, they should also be covered under the Australian Consumer Guarantee for at least two years (again, by Kogan and not by Apple Australia).
