Got this air conditioner last year from the same deals (eBay 20% off + $150 cashback) at the same price. Great product!

    • +3

I have 3 of these air conditioners. All three failed after 12 months. Fujitsu did all that they could to not come good on the warranty, I probably rang them 20 - 30 times before finally getting them fixed. Got the circular, oh you need to speak to so and so, he's on the toilet etc. They tried to sell me a heap of bullshit about incorrect installation, the air-conditioners were installed according to the AS3000 wiring rules and their method of installation was not related to the failures.

Now air swing thingo has failed on one of them, I can't be bothered contacting Fujitsu.

Based on my experience, I'd suggest getting the panasonic's on special. I have two larger models of these and they have been great.

      • +2

yeah i am concerned since my fujitsu has just stopped working 12 months too, looking at whirlpool I am concerned this is going to be a common problem with my model and fujitsu seem to try to worm out of repairing under warranty for alot of people. shame i didn't see your review before i bought it.

  • You should credit 2jzzzz for this deal

    • can you please link me to where he has mentioned this?
I thought of this yesterday with the original CTECH20 was posted.

If i have missed giving credit to anyone i will if its appropriate as per links above for easternculture and jeffr

Yep, cheers. But in this case just a bit of a coincidence by the looks.

  • Price guarantee does not apply to items purchased through TGG eBay store:

eBay operates in an online marketplace independently from The Good Guys. Orders we fulfil on eBay are for eBay customers and made under the eBay terms of trade.

Under our agreement with eBay, our outlet store on their site must agree to participate in an a number of promotional days that are planned by eBay directly. eBay determines the dates and basis of these promotions.

Our PAY LESS Price Promises are everyday benefits we offer to customers of The Good Guys. These benefits are not generally extended to customers of independent online business.

    • thanks i'll add this to the top.
I did however manage to get $210 prepaid card from the last ebay sale.

      • No worries. I have been refused the price match guarantee on past ebay purchases.

      • Yep same here. Got about $500 back during the pre-xmas deals.

  • +1

I believe this unit also qualifies for peaksmart(energex) so you can get a further $100 rebate potentially.

    https://www.energex.com.au/residential-and-business/positive…

    • is this nation wide, and i assume the monitor they talk about is free?

      • I think Energex are Queensland only, I cant confirm anything about cost I'm afraid, I would assume its free, but that's only an assumption.

  • Does Good Guys do the installation?
Or do I have to get someone else to install?

    • They provide a local installer for $500 here. That's when you buy in-store. Not sure about via email.
Better to choose your own installer.

  • Good work. It is a great AC. Very quiet and efficient.

    • Is it really quiet? I read two reviews (but not trusted ones) saying it's noisy. I'm a bit worried as I want it for the bedroom.

The Panasonic CS/CU-Z9RKR can also be had for $579.20, so I'm not sure which is the better option…
EDIT: and the Kelvinator KSV25HRF is $501 after rebate… hmmm

      • Noise depends on installer. I have all Fujitsu's and they are very quiet. Quieter than my L-series Daikin's from last house.

        • Noise has nothing to do with the installer.

        • +1

@pmupsinep: It does if it is due to vibration or improper sealing or mounting.
If someone is saying this Fujitsu makes noise, it has to be the installer as that would be the only difference to mine. There is absolutely no one that could say my unit is loud.
The loudest it gets is a hum for the outdoor unit on 'Powerful' mode. The indoor unit only has the noise of the air coming out. You can easily sleep with it turned on and not even know it is on.

      • You can turn the fan level to the minimum which is effectively silent. Unless you're sleeping, the maximum fan level doesn't bother me.

    • Agreed, this is a great little unit. Have them in the bedrooms here in Brisbane. Never goes below 24deg, outdoor unit is quiet too, and has an optional low noise mode.

I often run mine in "dry" (dehumidify) mode at night, keeps the room cool during sleep but burns even less power!

  • How much does it typically cost to get this installed?

    • ask the good guys, they're usually good guys with this type of stuff

      • No good guys near me. I'm trying to compare this to a quote I got a a while ago for a supply + install.

        • +1

Good Guys usually hooks you up with a local installer for $500. I wouldn't get it for less than $500 as that's just too dodgy. Might depend on state as each state has different requirements for installers.

        • why the neg, just a suggestion!

    • +1

I had two of these installed last year (but next size up) and came in roughly around 500 per unit

PS this price is just crazy… I need one this size for a small room that really heats up and was going to pay $899 a few weeks ago

      • OK Thanks guys. I was quoted ~$1200 so not much in it. I probably just get the local AC mob to do it.

        • Same here. Realistically, with a typical $500 install, the $1200 deal fully installed is cheaper than this deal.
I guess installers eat in to their install margin if you buy the AC through them.

        • @xsacha: the more they sell the bigger their kickbacks from the manufacturers.

        • @xsacha:

I dont follow…does that mean if I can find an installer who could provide this AC + installation for $1200, it's cheaper than getting this deal?

        • @xwon123: Yes. Also, they have that price year-round (even in summer). But now is a particularly good time to install due to the cash back from Fujitsu.

        • @xsacha:

I just called TGG. Back to back installation cost is $650. I called up another company, installation cost is $680! Installation cost is more expensive than the unit itself. That's ridiculous

        • @xwon123: Might depend on your state. Some states you only need a plumber to do the install and an electrician to do the connection. Other states you need a qualified fridge tech.

This deal comes to $719+650 = $1369 upfront if it costs you $650 to install. Local deals where they supply+install may be better.

I can confirm you will get Fujitsu $150 card no matter which retailer/installer you buy from.

    • It varies a lot. Last year i got my air con installed back to back for $400 including a wall bracket and electrical work.

      • Who did you get our aircon installed by are the good company?

        • Yes very good installer. PM me for details.

  • the model in the title and the deal don't match?

    • +2

yes i noticed that too… just be careful model in title is DESIGNER range the one actually for sale is LIFESTYLE range. which is the middle tier

      classic -> lifestyle -> desginer

      • Sorry fixed. Must've been researching other models and didn't copy pasta correctly.

  • +2

Normal price has been $799 (vs $719 in this deal) all year, here: http://www.acstore.com.au/#!shop/c9te
So a saving of $80, and possibly freight if you don't live local.

    • +1

yes :( I thought it was the designer KUCA model based on title which is normally $899

bing lee ebay have that one for 999 so would come down to 799.2 and then 150 off = 649.2

still very good though $350 saving on that model

    • I don't think you can claim cashback from acstore? That is another $150 difference

      • Yes you can claim $150 cashback.

        • Hi xsacha. Which proof of payment (paypal, bank statement. .) did u submit with the claim form? Would they still accept the claim with EBAY showing on the receipt? Thanks

        • @best choices: All they want is receipt. Not sure what ebay gives but you can always ask the company you purchased from for another receipt if you are worried.

Just remember they want receipt and not invoice.

  • Waiting for a deal on the portables. How do they compare?

    • They dont!!!

  • +3

    Thanks!

Just ordered the 3.5kw unit. extra $100 for 40% more power.

Sorry if the Maths is off but it gives you the general idea. Assumed Cashreward is based on full price from my previous purchases - but could be wrong.

    Size Price CR 1.35% 20% off Visa $ $/W
    2.5 899 12.1365 179.8 150 557.0635 0.2228254

    5 1498 20.223 299.6 200 978.177 0.1956354

    • None left in my local store :(

      • ah! that sucks dude.

In stock for the top 10 nearest stores near me - Brisbane.

        • I only have 1 store within a 3 hour drive :/ heh

I'll have to keep an eye on the site to check stock during the eBay promo…

    • Just bought the same unit. Was doing the exact same maths in my head!

    • It depends on how big the room that you're operating it at. Generally rooms under 25 squared metres, 2.5 kW is sufficient. No point in getting an overpowered air conditioner in a closet ;)

    • I don't follow. What's cr and everything after that?

      • +1

        kW cooling output
        Cash Rewards (1.35%)
        Ebay (20% off)
        Final Price
        $ per cooling output Watt

        • Ah ok. Doesn't I suppose take into account that over the long term the bigger one will have higher running costs, foregoing any saving you got $/W.

The only consideration should be room size and then comparing like for like in price

        • @teehee: The major issue with the larger ones is:
Less efficient at lower cooling capacities
          Higher minimum power input.

That's actually the reason I chose Fujitsu for my 7kW. It was the only one that could drop below 1kW input.

That's also one of my major reasons for choosing split over ducted and multi. The multi/ducted were going to use 2-3kW at the minimum. Even if you just had a bedroom unit cooling and the room was already cool. Meanwhile in this situation, a split would be consuming 0.4kW in bedroom or 0.8kW in living room for minimum.
That's without even considering how much more efficient splits are.

  • The price guarantee terms and condition says excluding eBay. I tried that and got straight denial from thebadguys.

    • i must've got lucky! i got a prepaid gift card last time =D

  • Got this. Great AC

  • whats better this or the Panasonic air-conditioner?..

OBV the 3.5kw is better but what if you where to go the 3.5kw pana vs 3.5kw Fujitsu?

  • Great deals. Has anyone managed to find a ducted system on sale? I did some searching but found nothing so far.

  • @Mark Taylor where are you?

  • +1

I just shared these details with my AirCon guy ( who has been recommended by friends and our feedback is awesome for him). Just bought one for parents and he will install it for $500. Highly recommend him …name George ….0449780798 incase if anyone is looking for installation in Sydney.

    • +5

      George is that you?

      • +1

        No, im Taylor….Mark Taylor!

  • just want to know i got the aircon last week, is it still possible to refund or price beat? thx

    • I did the same when I saw the cash back deal :(

    • i dont think so as the 20% off is related directly to eBay. and not the base price.

  • I live in a villa complex, is this sound loud, should I look at sound pressure or sound power? Last thing I want is neighbours complaining about the sound.
    O.U. Sound Pressure Level (dBA@1mtr) : 47
    O.U. Sound Power Level (dBA) : 64

    • The Sound Pressure Level (SPL) would more likely be of use, that would be the level in decibels someone could measure with an SPL meter (standing 1m from the sound source and using A-weighting). 47dBA would be roughly similar to the noise of a fridge see here
Sound Power Level is the sound power a source emits independent of distance - see here. A bit math heavy but the lightbulb comparison is a good one.
I would check strata by-laws (if there are any for your complex) as sometimes they state an aircon unit has to be below a certain dB level. You certainly don't want to quote a louder dB level! (eg quoting Sound Power Level instead of SPL). I'm fairly sure SPL dBA is the standard used as it is a bit more real-world practical.

  • anyone know enough about these to tell the difference between the lifestyle and designer range in the C5 / H6 models?? ie are they both inverter etc?

    ie.
    5/6 designer:
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/151980815518?_trksid=p2060353.m14…

    5/6 lifestyle:
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/151980815518?_trksid=p2060353.m14…

    cheers,

    • Designer:
Uses much more power (EER 3.8 vs EER 4.1 of lifestyle)
Is 1dB louder inside, 3dB louder outside
Has extra filters (eg. ionisation) that aren't listed on the lifestyle
Has a much smaller indoor unit.

Other than that, they seem to be the same.

  • There seems to be concerns about the R32 refrigerant in this air con.

Any experts here can shed some light on whether the concern is warranted?

    • Every company is switching to R32. Fujitsu, Daikin, Panasonic, Hitachi, Mitsubishi Electric, Kelvinator, (all Chinese brands). I'm not aware of any concerns.
Only ones that havent switched yet is Samsung and Mitsubishi Heavy. They will switch when they release their next product.

If you have read that it is flammable, it really isn't in normal air mixture. What concerns have you heard about?
The previous mainstream gas that everyone used before R32 was R410. R410 contains 50% R32.

      • Thanks xsacha, that's what I have read on Whirlpool and partly here as well .

I guess I got a little paranoid after a few installers refuse to install this unit simply because it uses R32 and they were probably exaggerating how flammable and dangerous R32 is…

        • Just a guess, but:
The problem is probably more to do with them not having the right equipment to install it. These R32 units use new connections (smaller diameter) for the piping as it is a higher pressure.
Also, the gas needs to be kept in a special container (high pressure) which may be hard for them to get access to. This is only an issue if they need to run the pipe longer than the piping that it comes with or longer than it comes charged (gas) with.

    • Check the comments here re r32. It is not a problem. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/158371

      • Thanks mrbillions for the reassurance. :)

  • I need 4 units, will this code work for that many?

    • well it worked, perfect timing for me, building a new place and just going splits instead of central heating!

  • +1

Hey guys, just wondering if any of you can recommend an reputable installer in Sydney?

I have searched the forums and whirlpool, a lot of the installers only do supply and instal.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Good guys just increased the price on ebay to 949$.
    Can they do that ?

    • Darn… same with a couple of Panasonic units I was watching!

      • Their catalogue sale ended, should have dropped back.

  • Clicking on above eBay link still shows aircon for $899. I got one last night.

    • Looks like it was only at $949 for less than a day. The link's purchase history shows two purchases at the higher price yesterday between 5-6pm AEDST. The next purchase around 7:30pm was back to $899. The two Panasonic units on my watchlist haven't gone back down though.

      • I did send an email yesterday arvo to goodguys through eBay asking them whether they could set it back to original price. Not sure if that actually work, but I'm glad they did.

I told myself not to purchase if it cost $40 more out of principle.

        • +1

I ended up getting the Panasonics anyway even though the prices stayed up. Harvey Norman (amongst other retailers) still has a lower price for both of these units, so if The Good Guys' 30 day price guarantee holds up, it'll be a sweeter win for me.
