The Good Guys Raised The Price of a TV by $100 in eBays 20% off CTECHIE Sale

This TV was $1095 just a few days ago so after discount (save 20% (max $1000) off item price) was $895.
But they just raised the original price by $100 making it $995 after discount halfing the original discount.

Posting here because I'm angry, I was going to buy this tv but now I'm thinking of contacting the ACCC.

Am I overreacting? Thoughts? Inputs? Funny stories?

Answer (Yes I was overreacting)

It's been on sale since even before the eBay sale, and some have bought it since the eBay sale started.

Please, be my guest and report it, you obviously are annoyed you missed out on a deal and felt the need to vent on here. Report it to ACCC just purely so I can laugh at the fact you've reported it.

Now, despite what some people seem to not realise, the world doesn't revolve around the eBay sale!

Here you'll see the ad for the tv from 5 days ago
Do you notice the discount shown? I'd bet my hat it's because it's a catalogue sale and guess what, that sale has finished!

And feel free to neg me, in case you haven't noticed it doesn't affect me, my life still goes on, I still post deals and comments. It doesn't detract from me being right though.

    Oh, and last I checked, $1095-20% = $876, and $995-20% = $796

      (max $1000) off item price)

        $1000 off doesn't equal $1000 purchase price…

The offer entitles you to 20% off the purchase price (excluding postage) at Participating Stores on eBay.com.au during the Offer Period, for up to 3 transactions and up to a maximum discount of $1000 per transaction.

        • ahhhh okay makes sense, alright i agree with all this. my bad lol

Don't think I'll waste the ACCC's time now.

I'll give you a thumps up for the information actually, only a ego driven individual would neg a informative comment.

      • I'll take a thumbs up, not sure sure about the thumps :P

What I love about The Good Guys is that when they have a sale on an item, they put the date that it will end right below the price.

It's on you that you missed this one.

    • Understood, my anger came from the fact I thought $1095 was the standard price not a sale. Yeah my bad.

There are always sales of some form on. It happens every other month from what I've noticed. If you missed it just wait for the next sale. Although a colleague was in the same situation previously. He saw the TV he wanted. I told him about ebay offering x percentage discount. He went to the physical store anyway and told them about it being on ebay etc etc and they offered him the ebay discounted price plus threw in other goodies as well.

  • so?

      The world revolves around OzBargain.

      • And is powered by…? (haven't seen this reference in a while….)

  • The Sony KDL50W800C went from $995 to $998 just as I sneezed.

    • Could have been worse…

Kryten: It's been a moderately quiet shift, except for one small shock a couple of hours ago when we noticed an alien invasion fleet off the starboard bow. Thankfully it turned out to be one of Mr Lister's old sneezes that had congealed on the radar screen.
