I went into the Sydney store yesterday to look at it and ended up buying it. I took it for a burn this morning and am really happy with it. How much extra are the pedals?

    • +1

Pedals came free with mine (bog standard flat ones), but I went in store.

    • Pedals are free, but it's BYO spokes.

  • You won't complete the Tour de France on this bike,

Have a little perspective. This is better than most of the winning bicycles of Le Tour.
What would Eddy Merckx have given to ride a bike like this?

    • +1

His winner's jerseys from the 11 grand tour races that he did win?

OP went to look at a $149 bike but ended up buying a $599 bike? Didn't work well within your budget or just simply didn't have one?

Realised that price and value are different things, probably.

    • Have been eying out bikes for both my girlfriend and myself. Feel free to troll elsewhere though.

I'm interested in the Reid Granite, which is 10% cheaper on their eBay store, has anyone seen it or got any comments?

    • I wasn't looking at mountain bikes, sorry. :(

  • How do these compare?

    • +3

OMG. Very, very badly. Not sure who is the target market for that. High on bling, low on quality.

      • A 'friend' had one of these. There are heavier planets than this bike.

        • I would hazard a guess that all planets are heavier than this bike.

    • Honestly if you want to get into cycling, goto gumtree and buy a 2nd hand bike from a reputable brand.

      • +1

problem with gumtree is finding your size and near where you live … and everybody seems to have paid RRP and are asking street price for a used bike.

With reid, if they are handy, walk in, choose your size, test, if happy buy it.

        • 599 isnt cheap for an entrant level bike. You can get Specialized entrance level bikes for almost the same price for like 800, from local bike shops.

Oh ha ha ha. This bike has absolutely nothing that you want. It's utter, utter junk. Even Google agrees with me: http://imgur.com/d4cVfgv

  • Good deal. Any reason to wear the lycra.

Last year's 105 Falco deal was very good, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/180513

    This deal is okay.

    • Wow, that was awesome.

Try code "VIP" when checking out to get 10% off. I think it only works with non-discounted bikes but could be useful if you wanted one not on sale.
