Best Eurozone Phone Plan for a Month of Travel?

Does anyone know any good data packages that work throughout most of Europe, are cheap and have a decent amount of data? I'm heading there in the middle of the year and I feel Google maps will make life a lot easier

  • How much time are you spending in each country? If a week, maybe best to get sims there.

If less than a week, may still be cheaper, but it is wether it's worth the effort (especially if you want to hit the ground running with maps).

Even so, I'd say it would be cheaper to invest in a French (for example) sim and use it for roaming in Italy, than it would be to buy one here, but I last looked at this market in 2011, so do not know what's changed.

  • Have a similar question here.

Going to France 5 days, Italy 1 week, UK 5 days. Anyone with experience?

  • +3

I would recommend getting a 3 simcard. I got mine in the UK and you can load it up with unlimited data for I think 20 pounds. They have a roaming arrangements for quite a few countries in Europe (i.e., UK, Spain, France, Italy, Scandinavian countries). You can buy the sim card anywhere in Europe and I think the cost of the recharge is about the equivalent in euros of 20 pounds.

    • Thanks, will look at this option.

  • Hi my Advise,

    I travel to Europe often,

If you only travel 2 weeks between couple countries, its best for you to use vodafone red plan,

If you travel using Europe sim card, you need to buy 1 for every countries which cost around 20 Euro each.

    but with 5 dollar * 14 days = 70 bucks = 47 EUR

so this cost is actually much cheaper assuming u using vodafone
