Wedding Transport

Hey guys, trying to sort out a wedding and have to organise a car.

I've been rightfully shocked as any ozbargainer would be at some of the prices of things like photography and flowers. What sort of figures am I looking at for a car just so I know what to expect.

Im fully open to ideas like hiring an uber with a luxury car if that even exists? Otherwise i think a good ol limo or a general luxury car would do the trick nicely.

Looking for experience and suggestions.

Thanks guys!

Since you're in Brisbane, try carhood. There are some people who leave their luxury cars with carhood while they go overseas.

They're just new in Brisbane but they may have a luxury car available for the date of the wedding. Or you might have to try them again closer to the date of the wedding…

never heard of this before. thanks.
so some people actually let their own car be rented out and get around $10-15 a day for it (2012 honda jazz, $43 day, you get 25%), doesnt look like something I would do.

I did it with my beat up car. Instead of airtrain or expensive parking, I had a very easy way to the airport and my car came back clean and shiny, plus I got a few bucks for it. They also picked me up from the airport in a Audi Q5 SUV as they had just dropped off the owner to his flight.

        • how many kms did they do.
maybe a cheap way of getting a car then being an uber ddriver all night.
i wouldnt truct anyone but I see the advantage for you.

@PVA: Haha that would be taking the sharing economy to new levels. They did about 350km over 5 days. Went up to Noosa apparently.

  • How important is the fancy car? And how many people do you need to move? (Bridesmaids, groomsmen etc) Back in the day, friends of ours called on a couple of mates to serve as drivers and I think rented a couple of pretty ordinary late model white cars. It worked fine and was a fair bit cheaper than hiring a fancy car and driver. Of course, no good if you and/or your future spouse are set on having a fancy car, but if it's not something you care about then why pay extra?

    • Thanks, this sounds like the best way to be fancy!

do a search for local car clubs, you may get a nice antique Jag etc.

but with any rental types , mention wedding and its dollars dollars and you rent by the hour or two.

I hired 3 new Mercedes from Europcar. Had 2 black and one silver. Cost about $120 each, worked well.

Hah, found this thread coz I'm trying to find cars myself, but in Melbourne - any one have ideas?

I wanted to simply borrow family vehicles or something low key as we have a few fancy cars available to us but it seems the drivers are gonna be the harder thing to manage. I don't really want guests to do it because its a pain in the backside when they should be spending the day having fun.

So yeah, need to figure out transport for bridal party of 6 during photos, a 10 person limo starts at $700 it seems.
