That flat tyre is so bad that I can see it on people from across the room. It looks like it's a cheap chinese knockoff. I can't believe it even came off the concept line.

    Wouldn't buy it for $50.

    • It is the cost of having the ambient light sensor for auto-brightness.
Ive had a Moto360 for over a year and never notice the flat tyre.. when you are looking at ~97% of the screen you just dont notice the other 3% once you are used to it.

      • That flat tyre is the only reason stop me from buying it. People keep saying that it's the trade off of having the ambient light sensor. HOWEVER, why is it so impossible to position the sensor elsewhere?

        • They could put it on the side, but it would not be as reliable, as it would not be facing up (towards the sky/ceiling lights), it would either be facing the ground, or your sleeve, or sideways.

        • i use a black watch face with white numbers

it drains less battery and is easier to read

less clutter. i had a little fun with the custom watch faces but the novelty wears off and looks tacky if you try the fancy watch faces

So with the black watch face, there is no flat tyre

If you dont like it then dont buy it. go buy the gear s

Agreed, it's never bothered me with a dark watch face. Also, it makes notifications more of a rectangle which seems more obvious to me

    • agree :(

Ditto, I'd find that black bar at the bottom haunting.

Look at the difference it makes having an edge to edge lcd screen……

I think the LG Urbane that can be had for just over $240 through kogan eBay 20% off is a better buy. As mentioned not a fan of the flat tyre screen.

    • I took one look at the Urbane but didnt like the look. Its got a big fat bezel, and a little 1.3" screen with fewer pixels (compared to 1.56" with bevelled edge, and thin bezel of the Moto).

Of course looks are subjective, some people might like the fat bezel and smaller display.

Wireless charging is a very cool feature, compared to watches that have pogo pins.
