    No touch screen.. :(

    • C'mon sol3x, i'm still waiting for your 4S photos.

  • If under 1k…..:)

  • Specs like i5 chip, integrated graphics, 128gb storage and 4 cell battery cost only $1699, that's CHEAP!

  • lenovo website is giving me smallpox

What is with the ridiculous markups?
    $600 for a 512 GB NVME Pci-e SSD
    $200 for the core i7 6600U.

Finally a 16GB version here but $3.5k (before discount)! Only a SATA drive for that money too.

Same spec in the US $1709 = AUD ~$2300 i.e. about 50% markup over US price

Edit: Won't include US tax but still miles cheaper.

  • I'm using X1 Carbon Gen 3 at work. It's an okay laptop for work stuff. Biggest annoyance with Lenovo computers is that Function key and Control key are switched around.

    • +1

FYI, you can switch them around in BIOS

      • Yea I know about that but still. It stupid by design to have the keys in the positions they are now.

In addition, to access the actual F1, F2, F3 etc. keys, you'd need to hold the Fn key which is annoying when you want to simply close a program by using "Alt + F4" but you end up holding "Alt + Fn + F4" which is quite awkward for the fingers.

        • I'd be surprised if you couldn't change that in the BIOS too.

        • @Shonky: You probably can. Still a bad default design.

        • Can you lock the Function key so it's on by default?

    • I don't remember that being an issue with my Gen 1. They really screwed it up with the Gen 2 soft keys and a few other brain explosions but I thought by Gen 3 it was back to pretty good?

Small changes are usually fairly easy to adapt to though. My current Dell needs Fn for PageUp etc but I can switch between full desktop keyboards and it easily.

My Gen 1 was great. Very light and portable but solid also.

Strongly considering sourcing a US model as my current machine is on the way out. I note the US version has a 65W adapter vs 45W for Australia. Bigger but faster charge?

      • Agree on Gen 1 vs Gen 2. For Gen 3 they mostly reverted though and it's got a really good keyboard again.

Yes the higher the wattage the quicker it will charge, but the weight goes up too. 45W is great for travelling but can take a long time for a full charge, vs say a 90W brick which charges quickly!
