Cebu Pacific - Return Flights Sydney to Manila $358.78 AUD 1/08/16 to 31/12/16

480

Cebu Pacific is having a sale again.

I have flown with them before on this leg a few times and I think that they are one of the better budget airlines.

Prices I found in late 2016
$199.00 AUD - SYD to MNL (22/24/26/28/29/30 November)
$159.78 AUD - MNL to SYD (almost any return date in Dec including Dec 31)

Plane is usually an Airbus A330 with 9 seats per row (all economy). always has lots of friendly staff. Return flight is a red eye.

This deal is flight only and expect optional extras such as meals and baggage fees to be selected by default through the booking process (but all can be removed).

Flight lands in T3 in Manila. Its a new and modern terminal with better facilities than the Qantas terminal, though it can be a wait for a cab.

There is no discount for pre-booking your meal and while it is cheaper than anything at Syd airport, you may find better options on the onboard menu.

Ticket includes up to 7kg carry on baggage. Expect to have your carry-on weighed if you are not checking in any bags. Baggage costs have increased a fair bit in the past year and expect to pay ~$35-$50 depending on size.

Costs are billed in AUD and there are no credit card surcharges (MC or Visa only)

EDIT - now extended until April 14,

And just my comment/opinion on the above deal.

There have been far better deals in the past, however, I have been watching the site for a month or so now and deals are not as regular as they were. The last couple of deals have been $249 to Manila.

Where this deal is most valuable is for those wanting to travel around November/December. The weather there is quite nice that time of year and there seems to be a lot of dates offered around that time, which is not always the case when better deals are offered.Whilst this deal does not include December departures, there is plenty of opportunity to leave late Nov and return any time in Dec.

If you want to go during rainy season, (June - Oct) i'd expect better deals in the coming months. Also, if you were hoping to travel in 2017 it may be worthwhile holding off and waiting for one of their epic deals later in the year.

    • Thanks so much for posting this.

I have just booked for late November depart, Mid December return. Great price for that time of year!

      Kudos to you biggweilo :)

    • While the frequency of typhoons may decrease by November, they can still be among the deadliest ever, such as Typhoon Haiyan, which made landfall November 8. Of course the year before deadly Typhoon Bopha hit Mindanao in early December (though the area is less popular with tourists). Since I'm a responsible pussy I stayed in the west (Manila, Palawan and Boracay) in November.

Hope these guys will announce their MNL > MELB flights soon.

They been saying it will come to Melbourne for quite some time but still nothing.

Well the most latest news from them:

Jan 2, 2016 - OPTIMISTIC. CAPA says Cebu Pacific plans to launch flights to Guam, Honolulu, and Melbourne this year, despite an expected slow growth …

Traveled with them domestically many times while in Philippines. Flights were basic, cheap, attendants were friendly and well… what more can you ask for? I never had any problems with them in over 10 flights with them.

I don't think it is gonna happen because when i was living in Manila and closely following this last year, it revolved around turning Avalon into an international airport which never happened.

Scoot managed to launch MEL-SIN eventually, however that makes competition for slots out of MEL even more difficult.

However, fingers crossed it does happen eventually because some more competition on that route would be really great for me.

Found this extract from another website as at 23 Feb.

"The budget carrier is also planning to launch service to Honolulu and Melbourne. However, those routes have been pushed back to 2017 as Ninoy Aquino International Airport continues to face congestion issues."

      • Ah damn. Yeah Ninoy Aquino is a traffic (for planes) nightmare.

Heard that they want to move to another airport nearby in the near future because of that (former US base I think).

        Clark airport ain't bad also.

    • Slow growth means longer promos, right? ;)

Is there an option to select/pay for emergency aisle seats with Cebu Pacific? I couldn't see when looking into bookings.

    • Yes there is but it is not clearly labelled.

On the 3rd screen in, you can choose your seat for an additional fee. Most seats are $9, however, rows 16 and 37 are dearer as they are emergency exit rows.

    • Not sure about international flights but I remember flying domestic with them, you can pay to select your seats.

I always pick the window seats near the middle ;)

Sweet booked a trip later in the year for $376 all up.

Any idea if there will be deals in the May period like last year?

    • If you are hoping to fly in May, it may be too late, but there is a good chance of other deals offered in May.

I'm waiting for their wet season sale (usually in April or May)for August flights.

Looking at last year they had a sale in April for May fights.
        Lets hope it repeats.

        • Looks like they have repeated the same offer this week, and changed the travel dates dates from May - July so you are in luck =)

          @biggweilo:

          Cheers for that mate!

  • Please be careful this airline has no show penalty. So if you can't take the flight, better to cancel in advance.

    • How can they penalise you, other than the ticket being non refundable?

      • They illegally deducted the pentalty from your credit card. This is what I learnt from online discussion forum.

        • That is incredible! Thanks for the 'heads-up'.

    • My partner was sick last year and no showed on a short international flight (both legs).

I still went on the flights alone and confirmed my partners no show at the airport whilst I was checking in.

I remember reading the t's anc c's at the time and found no mention of a procedure for no shows and have double checked my statements in light of these comments and can confirm no such charges have been made to my CC.

Regardless, if there was a clear no-show procedure on the ticket, I would have been happy to follow it.

    BOOM! Booked!

  • $376 to Manila…. Prolly worth looking around for cheap planes to Europe from there.

  • Quite expensive now i got many return trips for $160 last year i guess the good days are over.

    • Don't feel too bad paulaus, there are lots of Airport, passenger movement etc fees, and they need to make some money or they will go out of business and that would really limit flight options. Using AirAsia Syd - Kul '15 months ahead' sales for a comparison, they have a handful of Seats Syd - Kul for around $100 - $116 each way. As a much bigger airline, and with such a long lead time, they are better able to offset those few rock bottom priced seats.

      • Still price is ok if you live in Sydney but im in Brisbane so not worth it now for me after paying connecting flights and hassle of waiting. I can usually get gold coast to Cebu return for around 500. Last year i did 11 trips so need to get as cheap as possible.

        • Is that a direct flight? what airlines are you flying with?

I do 4 trips a year and that is taxing. 11 trips is just ridiculous.

        • +1

          @biggweilo:
Its not ridiculous because i want to see my 2 year old daughter it might be for the guys who just go there for the fun.

        • @paulaus:

It's ridiculous in terms of the hours you must spend flying and recovering in contrast to the time you spend over there. When i do a 4-day trip in summer, it takes me days to get over the jetlag .

You still did not answer the question regarding how you get from the Gold Coast to Cebu - is it direct and what airlines?

        • +1

@biggweilo: Airasia gold to kl then kl to cebu and i dont get jetlag i arrive in gold coast at 8am and i am working at 11am same day.

What to see in Manila other than giant shopping centres?

    • Go and see other places. You could take a bus to Banaue (amazing rice terraces). Nice hiking around Batad and up to Mt Amuyao.
It cost me about $10 in 2011. Or you could take a bus to Legazpi and check out the Mayon volcano. If you want to visit paradise, try Camiguin Island. It's the Philippines version of Bora Bora.

  • any direct flights to Palawen island?
