Best value Telstra reseller

Hi,

I'm after a new mobile plan with Telstra (because of their far better coverage). I'm currently with LiveConnected (paying ~$23 for $500 worth of calls, 2GB data).

In parts of my office near the CBD- I can't even get reception.

Ideally I'll get an Unlimited Plan, minimum of 1.5GB. If I stick with Optus (Vaya, this plan is only $18 a month).

So far I've found:

Aldi
ThinkMobile

Are there any other options?

  • Telstra prepaid itself is fairly good value these days

Look at the Freedom Plus plan

Minimum $30 for a 28 day recharge to get an acceptable amount of data though.

    • I see- that's a little out of my budget. Don't think it's worth an extra $12 a month just to be with Telstra.

      • It's an extra $12 but you also get the $30 recharge credit which you can spend on apps, movies, books, international data or subscriptions to Google Music, Foxtel Mobile, Microsoft Office, Dropbox, Evernote, some VPNs, etc.

  • Boost have a $20 plan which includes 1GB data + 500MB every weekend as well as unlimited SMS. You only get 100 minutes of calls though, so if you're a caller not a texter you'll struggle.

Otherwise your best option is Telstra itself - $30 recharge, unlimited SMS, loads of calls.

Bear in mind that Boost is the only Telstra reseller which has the full network - the others have limited access to the network. It's supposed to be about the same as Optus, but of course YMMV. If you're looking for better coverage I wouldn't bother with anyone other than Boost or Telstra.

    • If you're looking for better coverage I wouldn't bother with anyone other than Boost or Telstra.

If OP is only concerned about coverage around a CBD office it wouldn't make much difference if he went with Telstra itself or a reseller , since in metro areas it is much the same (for 3G anyway). The only difference that comes into play with the other resellers is once you are out in the boonies you have more limited access to the exclusive parts of their network.

      • In my case, Telstra does get reception in all parts of my office. It is more about when I'm travelling/on the road (not that regularly)

      • Boost has 4g now

  • I was on a similar plan as you, but found I needed more data. I actually ended up going with telstra on their My BYO Plan, $40/mth, $1000, unlimited texts, 5gb

  • Telechoice live $28 gives you 2.5GB (bonus 1GB) at the moment with $1000 calls
Only 3G at the moment. 4G coming later on in the year
