Carls Jr Menu/Discussion - Bateau Bay ( My 1st Experience)

Hi, just a note to let everyone know that a new chain opened on the Central Coast earlier this year. I finally had enough money to visit, as it is an hour away from home.
This was on a Saturday at Lunchtime, and people were queued up outside the store. The attendant was letting a few people in at a time, handing out Menus.

It didn't take long to get in.

Once the order was placed it did take some time for the meal to arrive.

I ordered a Western Bacon Cheeseburger Large Combo.

You are issued a cup from which you use on an LCD based Dispencer. All drinks are Amatil owned (Coke, Sprite, Fanta etc), however you can refill it like in certain Hungry Jacks stores.

Upon receiving my meal, which was $11.95 for a Large Combo, I had some of the best French Fries ever. They still had the crispy skin on some of them. As for the the burger it was 2 buns with a large Onion ring on the base, with 2 beef patties, bacon, cheese & sauce. I was extremely hungry yet, I could not finish it.

My wife had to go next door (as there was no Allergen Information) to MacDonalds. She purchased an Aussie Angus burger, and it cost more, yet was smaller.

  • A chain of one at the moment in Australia, I see.

    • So was KFC, McDonalds, Pizza Hut at one stage in Australia. ;-)
I guess they need some hard working retirees to spend $1000000 on a franchise, as well as everything else. Oporto was I recall 250k for a franchise in 2006.

Sure, but I'm not driving up to BB to sample it. Happy to wait for them to open one closer to me first.

  • Tried it a few weeks ago and was unimpressed. Over priced and the food received was lukewarm, and the drive thru took over twenty minutes to get through. It's better than McDonalds but that's not saying much. I tried the mushroom thickburger, like the char grilled taste but was nothing amazing. chicken burger was awful. No value in fast food anymore, rather make my own healthy food for less.

    Nice review to read.

Ny favourite burger so far is Neil Perry's Burger Project and this place in Queenstown NZ.

Don't want to be a broken record - but hardly eat In Maccas - just overpriced craps!

    • Burger project was ok, but the normal burgers are what I expect from a local greasy take away, no better, although twice the price.
They do some interesting variations and seasonal offerings.

    • My friend and I are major burger fans and went to Burger Project in World Square and found it to be horrific. Neil Perry is the master of the reality distortion field.

      • found it to be horrific

Horrific or terrific? They mean opposite things you know. English is quirky like that: terrible = bad (or sometimes just naughty), terrific = good, horrible = bad, horrific = bad.

  • I've been planning on making a trip there later this month, didn't realise it was still so busy though! Did you see if they had a drive through and if that was any quieter?

    • Hi. Yes there is a drive thru. There is a post above saying they waited 20 mins. It can be confusing as McDonalds is next to it.

  • I went there on the weekend for another Burger Combo, this time a 1/3lb burger with Guacomole. Awesome.
I read afew days ago that they have opened at Brisbane Airport and I saw another article stating they are expecting to open one in Newcastle later this year.
