A roomy main compartment holds books, papers, running shoes and a lunch. Inside, a padded sleeve accommodates most 17-inch laptops and two mesh pockets come equipped with a key keeper and an organization panel to hold your pens, zip drives and a phone. The flap has an outer pocket that seals with a water-shedding zipper, two daisy chains to hold your bike lock, and webbing loop to attach a bike light. Designed for a vertical fit while you’re riding, the shoulder straps switch between right- or left-carry and feature a single-handed, quick adjustment for a precise fit. A padded back panel softens the loads. With a topside carrying handle, reflective material for visibility at night and lash straps to hold a yoga pad.

    Black hole messenger bag?

    Sounds a little… radical, don't you think?

    Now that's an ugly bag!

Recently, we seem to have had a raft of messenger bags that could substitute as emergency shelters in a pinch they're so big, anything a little smaller ? 13" or 15" on the old language.

The black hole series are solid bags (I have a big duffle), however be weary of their protection against water - the top of the bag will keep you good in a shower, but the base of the bag seems like it would absorb water and allow seepage if you sat the bag in it.

  • This looks like a well-featured bag for cyclists, however I would have preferred a brighter colour or, at least, that drab, grey webbing in a brighter colour. Reflectivity is all well and good at night, but not so useful at commuter times.
Unfortunately, like Ruprectaus above, I don't require such a large bag, and I'm a believer in taking nothing more than adequate-sized items on my bike. Too large becomes cumbersome and a hazard.

It's nowhere near as good a price as the Timbuc2 bag that was on here last week, but that wasn't a cycling-orientated bag.

I quite like the look of the Crumpler Quarfie messenger bag on here as a small everyday bag:

    But $76 :(
