  • Thanks TA

  • Wow TA, you are a genius. Thank you so much :)

    • His IQ is only 157. I wouldn't classify that as genius

    Great find TA.
However can anyone tell me if Qantas service has gone down the drain, tried calling to inquire if change dates will be allowed at a fee with this fare but their call centre is HOPELESS, tells you wait time is more than 1 hour and after 10 min waiting just hung up automatically, tried calling 3 times and wasted 30 minutes same thing happen….maybe a glitch but if this is the new Qantas then I may be better sticking with Virgin with similar fare in the search (I am not affiliated with them in any way).
Can anyone advice if date change is allowed, thanks in advance :)

    • Consensus opinion is that the call center quality has dropped significantly in the recent months. You're not alone.

Can't see anything about flights to LAX on their website

Is September high season or will there be some deals later on? Looks like lots of dates except for september which is around $1300 at the moment.

  • What are the chances of deals to New York during July?

Just flew back last Easter from LAX with QANTAS. I wasn't impressed with their service. It took them more than 1hr to provide entertainment on the screens. Before flying there we were supposed to change the departure of my partner because of work instead of flying out of PERTH we asked them to just cancel the first leg so he canc just wait in Brisbane for the second leg. After calling them few times they said they wont be able to do it without changing the whole eticket. Next time i fly to US I would using Virgin never had problem with them.

Industry standard rules where changing the first flight requires repricing the entire ticket from scratch… it doesn't matter which airline you use.

      • True! But changing the time and plane on my way back screw our plan on the last day.

Out of curiosity, did you fly in a 747 or an A380?

I went to HKG a couple of years ago on a A380 and came back on a 747. Felt like a completely different airline and was much happier with the A380. Last year, I went return to LAX and deliberately picked legs that used A380's

This is the one edge Qantas has over Virgin IMO.

      • My original flight was around 11PM for an A380 but QANTAS changed my flight to 7:30PM departure with a 747. This route was from LAX-MEL

        • Oh that sucks.
Even if you fly in Economy, if you fly with a premium airline, you expect to fly in a premium plane.

I Travel to Manila a fair bit, one of the reasons I fly budget instead of Qantas/ Philippine airlines is due to both airlines using the crappiest planes in their fleet to cover the leg.

  • Any deal to NYC?

    • Im looking for some aswell. Its about 1400 (leaving june) at the moment which isnt terrible but not a steal.

      • Me too. Seems the lowest they might go is around 1200?

  • Thanks TA. Would've definitely preferred Virgin but Qantas will have to do. (Although I do have an inkling VA is going to drop a sale soon..)

First time booking through Bestjet too, hope they pull through.

      Would've definitely preferred Virgin

How come? My experience with Virgin has been that they're fairly average. I prefer Air New Zealand much more.

I know everyone will have something different to say but my experiences with Air NZ have been awful!!

        • Here Here. Although, I have only flown with them Economy to NZ.

      • +1

Air New Zealand have the best Premium Economy product on the market in my humble opinion.
But when it comes to economy they are middle of the pack.
At this price Qantas is a winner.

  • The few $908 fares that I have looked at are codeshare with AA and run by them. Does anyone have experience with AA over Qantas?

  • The one downside of being an OzBargain regular. Booked these exact flights last week for $250 more. Which if I hadn't seen then, I would have been really happy about.

  • Interesting that Perth to Dallas is ~1K, whereas Perth to DC is ~2K .. an extra 1K for a 3h domestic flight!
