Folks, time to divert all your monthly spending through only one card to earn 10,000 velocity points/month upto 30,000
OR 50,000 depending on the card and spending $1500/$3000 per month respectively

Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer Card

      Ta. So that's around $360 value from $15,000 spend ($3,000 x 5 months @ 10,000 + 3,000 points per month).

      Equals 2.4% $ return on $ spent (base and bonus points - High Flyer card only)

      That's not bad, better than many Amex rewards.
      Coles Platinum Mastercard gives 1% return ($10 for every $1K spent).
      It's even higher with bonus points offers, and the 2 yrs price protection can double or triple that return if you are able to claim back $500 to $2K a year. I'm sitting around $600 claimed back so far.

      But the yearly Virgin gift voucher and passes to the lounge are attractive. I will consider getting this card, to replace my current one for 5 months. The annual fee is a killer tho.

      EDIT: "earn 1 Velocity Point per $1 spent, up to $10,000 each statement period, then 0.5 Velocity Points per $1 spent."
      I edited the calcs at the top of this comment. That's 3,000 base points per month @ $3K spend.

      The lower card actually provides the better return - 4% ROI - around $183 worth of vouchers for $4,500 spent (3x $1,500).
      Of course you would need to spend just a little more to get the points required to claim the 4th $50 voucher.

  It's roughly an award saver flight from Sydney to Melbourne, upgrade to business with another 7k on top,

  I enjoy using my points to fly my family of 5, including a 5, 3 and 1 year old in business. I'm sure my fellow business travelers arn't so keen though.

    Fee inclusive this isn't such a bad deal, guaranteed 120k of points a year which can get you a long way.

    Agreed. If I was chasing VA points I'd rather get something like the NAB card and get 60k points with a spend of $1500 once. Only a $150 p.a. fee too.

  I currently have the Flyer card. Does anyone know if it's possible to cancel, then re-apply for the High Flyer card to get this promotion? Or might I have to wait 12 months?

  Of all the Visa cards I've seen, the High Flyer card is one of very few that gives the highest rate of 1 point per $1 spend.

  $3000 for 10k points doesn't seem like a great return unless you would spend that normally..
