    Received my phone today. The rom version is MIUI 7.1.99.99(LHOCNCL) which is not an official rom. Fingerprint function does not work as well as the Photo Gallery. I tried to use System Update and Recovery Update to flash the official rom, but all failed. May need to try fastboot method, but I'm not confident of doing that at all.

      I've got one of these coming , let us know how you get on . I got one from eglobal in the last deal and it came quickly with proper global rom that updated without issue with OTA .I hope this isn't a pain because it's for a friend .

        I tried this method last night and everything seems fine so far. Thank you so much.

        Now the new official rom is MIUI Global 7.2|Stable 7.2.3.0(LHOMIDA).

    I've had this phone for about a week. It's working great.
    Also DHL shipping was insanely fast. Got the phone within 4 days of purchase date @_@

    The device specs were legit. It comes with miui os version 7.1.99.99 though. It seems to be the vendor's supplied OS. It's all in English with google play already installed.

    It doesn't seem to have any bloatware, so I see no need to flash it to the official os. I probably won't get any os firmware updates but that is fine for me. From experience, firmware os update just lags the device more. I'm fine with how zippy it is already.

    GPS and 4G (with optus) works well, and battery life lasts pretty long.
    Not much else to say, it feels good going from 4inch to 5.5 inches screen. And also, the phone is fast. I've read that the 650 is better than 808 in some areas.

    Oh right, camera is okay-ish. Very average and non-spectacular, compared to the other specs this phone has.

    That's my short random review. Sorry for the bad grammar and wording. =]

      With the Miui ROM, I suggest going through all the the settings in detail and disabling things like "User experience.. Send statistics back to Xiaomi", "Mi Cloud backup", "automatic updating virus definition", "automatic updates in Music app" etc etc, because these things unnecessarily chew up the battery with minimal benefits.

      Australian dollar has dropped :(

      All Alixpress etc have had price increases as it is using the US dollar to make conversions… very sad I had to wait a week to order and it cost a fair bit more.

    Ordered my phone on 12/05/16 and paid extra for expedited shipping, phone still hasn't arrived 12 days later, seems like it wasn't sent via DHL? Email I received on 13/05/16 fro dealsmachine:

      Sorry to hear that, did you put in comments about DHL shipping while ordering?

      Since you have been given a CA tracking number it is definitely not via DHL. To check the progress, use this :

      Once the package hits Australia and clears customs it will be handed over to Auspost, after which you can get an AusPost tracking number from here:

      PS: From experience with CA tracking numbers, as your package was sent on 12/05, you should receive your package this week (fingers crossed) .
