      • hi reps, could you please confirm if it comes with Cloning software to move data from Hard drive to SSD ??

        • +1

i have this drive and it doesn't.. you need to use third party software.
Cloning a mechanical hard drive to an SSD is never a recommended install path to switching to an SSD.

Always try and install a new OS onto an SSD and then move over your user account profile via online cloud backup or copy past exported user settings ext.

        • Just use the free mini tools partition manager

Gee I was on the fence at $90 but who can resist at $89.99?

    • It's those magical 99's doing their subtle and automatic manipulation upon you and everyone else.

  • Any good deal on 500GB?

  • +1

Can anyone comment on the performance?

    • +2

      And reliability?

      • +1

I bought one from them a few months back and have been using it as my main PC drive. No problems at all so far.

        • same here.. working well and its MLC ram .. not cheap slow, low life TLC

      • got one in my old desktop. Working well for quite sometime now. Performance wise, it is not as fast an 850 Evo (which is in my other desktop) on paper. But to be honest, I cant tell the difference in real world usage as you probably only shave 1 or 2 seconds off. Both are as fast and snappy.

I had a Sandisk 240GB which was great until it set on fire one day.

        Like, actual fire.

        It was ~6 months old.

        • set on fire one day.

lol you used it to cook?

  • ~ $90 on amazon

    • +6

You're much better of buying it locally from SE for the same price for warranty purposes and quicker shipping.

      • +4

Just the fact that expenditure is in our local government system, keeping some of our populace employed in the process.

        • +4

And GST to build schools and hospitals

      • +3

        Um honestly are you?

Amazon usually ship stuff to me in Adelaide within 7 business days although they have outdone themselves and done better before. They also accept returns for any reason and pay any shipping associated with returns and offer and will sometimes refund the difference if the items price drops soon after you bought it.

For the same price I'd be using Amazon meself.

        • That was my train of thought!

          Hassle free warranty and returns.

  • +9

Shopping Express in my experience are pretty good with their pricing, customer service, delivery and dispatch. However I had not dealt with them with any warranty returns because I did not have anything fail on me that I have bought from Shopping Express. Recently I bought a Toshiba laptop from them, and I sent them an email requesting if they could dispatch on the same day. SE replied to my email in couple of hours and dispatched my order on the same day. I received my order next day by 11am. In my opinion it is great customer service. Personally, I am impressed with them.

  • Damn, I thought I'd be cheap and buy the crucial one yesterday, but for the extra $8 I should have bought this. Oh well, you live and learn.

    • +1

luckily my order never went through. condolences to you :(

      • Mine didn't go through, but I emailed them and they put the order through. It's only for a work laptop so I'll deal.

    • Why do you think this is better than the Crucial one? This is not Sandisk Extreme.

      • Because the crucial one us one of the slowest SSDs available.

  • +2

I had only good experience with Shopping express, and actually dealt with warranty return for Samsung laptop. It kept hanging for no reason and after about 10 days I sent it back to them for refund. No problem at all.

Also, last few orders arrived the next day (Sydney delivery)

Beware of them. During EPIC hour offer on 28/03/16, they advertised WD 2TB portable hard drive for $109. I ordered one on 10:33pm and authorised payment through Paypal. They didnt accept order until 11:00:30pm and charged me full price which was $128. I requested them refund three times on the phone and they agreed to refund my money. Till date didnt receive any refund from them. I found this very unethical. Even you dont receive response back from them if you send an email complaint. I think that is purely poor customer service. I wouldnt buy from them again.

Only comment you've made on this site…

I do hope your next ones are more positive :)

      • hmmm, well spotted SB.

    • Lodge a claim through PayPal

PayPal is terrible for disputes. Credit card chargeback is always more effective.

        • I've never had PayPal rule not in my favour.

        • @macrocephalic: I have. With no transparency to their decision. Why anyone would want to use PayPal (which is NOT a bank in any shape or form) over their credit card is beyond me.

      • Tried Paypal Resoultion Centre. They would not help you in case of wrong price. They will only help you if product is not as described or not received.

  • Maximum Order Quantity: 2

I had the idea of sticking a heap in a server. I guess I'll buy 2 now and more later.

    • 2 per account.
So ask your "friend" to buy 2 for you, or perhaps a sibling :)

  • Does this include a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter?

    • +2

If its like the 120GB version, nope.
Why do you even need a 3.5" adapter?
      Tape works (these don't vibrate)

      • Or just put them in the bottom bay and screw them to one side. Actually, if you look, many cases have a some holes to mount it flat to a panel.

      • I'm looking to install it on my stepmother's HP AiO desktop, which from looking at a video has a funny way of replacing HDDs. Not sure if I can get away with tape.

        • Doublesided tape layer on layer to build the height. Don't use sticky tape or one sided tape.

No moving parts is good just make sure it has ventilation and if needed, insulation on metal parts to prevent short circuits.

  • does anyone knows if it comes with Cloning software to move data from Hard drive to SSD

    • +1

Didn't come with the 120GB one. I'd think it won't for this one as well.

    • I don't think it does, what would be good software for this purpose?

    • Always try and install a new OS onto an SSD and then move over your user account profile via online cloud backup or copy past exported user settings ext.

    • It does not come with software. But you can use the free EaseUS Todo software to clone. You can even realign the hidden partition (for your recovery software) to reduce space and obviously give you more space on the main drive which i thought it is helpful.

  • got one thanks

  • +2

Free shipping is a nice bonus but it's only $5 (5.3% discount) cheaper than some other stores (MSYCPL).

Dodgy "Was $249.00" on their website.

    • Not dodgy really rrp on these was about that not too long ago

      • Bollocks! SE 'RRP' is total BS. It's false advertising as people may think that they are getting a great deal but in reality they are not.

        • +1

What other price would you suggest SE put there instead? Scorptec pricing? MSY pricing? Jim down the road running a parallel import shop 'no tax invoice price'?

I have purchased from them at various times including their Happy Hour sales and have had very satisfactory experiences thus far.

        • -1

          @THICKnSLOW:

Current RRP would be a reasonable start!

I have also purchased from SE. Terrible after sales service. I got a DOA N54L and they wanted me to go though the manufacturer before returning it.

      • +2

this. i was looking through old orders for reference - i paid more than this for the 120gig intel ssd i have only a year ago. SSD prices through the floor.

  • This vs Crucial BX200? I have currently only SATA2 with 3/mb and will be for atleast a few years until I do a complete overhaul of the system. Will be used for general windows boot/ games/ load videos etc.

  • Hi guys just wondering if this would work in a 2.5" laptop bay?

doesn't list form factor only dimension's which appear to be slightly larger?

    Thanks

    • SSDs only come in 2.5" form factor as the largest. (not including m2)
If your laptop has a standard 5400/7200 rpm 2.5" harddrive it'll be fine
