  • Do people still use these crappy USB2.0 turtle drives?

    • They're actually useful for software during boot up.

      • Why not use a fast drive to boot up faster or 50x faster?

        • you've obviously never tried to copy an image to a cisco router/switch

        • So that's what you're using it for. Fair enough. Speed won't matter then. :)

        • I'm talking about applications like OS setup or creating images before OS is loaded; not starting up OS normally…

Also, some motherboards cannot boot from USB 3.0 ports.

        • Ok, as above.

        • @ronnknee:

Yeah agreed like the Windows 10 media tools.

I picked these for $9 from Harvey Norman not long ago. Individual 8gb sticks at $3 each.

I still use crappy usb2 for giving photos to clients on. Wack them on one of these and they can print straight off them.

    • Ditto. Wish I had bought a ton of the Sandisk from Officeworks a while ago at $2.something.

      • I picked up 40 and before that about 30…Next time I see them at that price will grab a few more.
Also have some with windows 10 and 8/8.1 even 7 loaded on them.

        • If you wanna offload any let me know hahahaha. Regret not buying 50 or so lol

        • What do you do with that many?

        • +1

          @ronnknee:
I do some part time photography. After I edit the images I put a couple of folders with print files and web files on them.

Give them to client and they can do as they please…print straight off them or copy files onto PC.

I used to use DVDs. But too much mucking around. Burn two CDs and print on them, this is way easier.

        • If you need that many then why not you buy straight from the suppliers and could get price as low as $1 each? I assume you have an ABN number.

        • @PW:
what supplier is gonna sell me 50-100 for $1 each?…and yes I have an ABN

        • Call SanDisk Australia, but you might have to buy a minimum of 1000 units.
