Acer Aspire One XP Netbook (Atom N450) $328 after Cashback (or $291.30 until Monday 19 April Only)

61

This weekend JB have 10% off of PC's & laptops (incl netbooks) which would bring this down to $291.30 after $39 manufacturer cash-back. I think it is hard to find a N450 netbook below $350 let alone below $300.

At $291.30 this even has me considering going for this instead of the $198 HN rain-check N270 model! Compared both today in store and track-pad on this is much nicer than the eMachine too.

If Office works carry these then 5% off from their price-beat would bring this down to $274.79.

Battery is 3 cell and the wifi is b & g. Thankfully this model comes with XP (rather than "Win 7 starter" - which I think is a bait and switch scam by MS - given it can only run three aps at a time!)

  • Actually looking at this it would appear that the 10% off is part of the "pre-stocktake sale" and therefore doesn't end until Monday 19th April. Sorry.

if the op is right and that the final cost is 291.30 after 39 dollar cash back that puts the price at transaction at $330.30 which makes it cheaper than the link u provided

  • Bad experience with acer netbook.

I never wanna buy acer's product at all.

    • They're ok man

    • Better than HP lol

  • I bought this not that long ago at the full price, it's a decent netbook.

  • Bait and switch scam? Surely you jest!

And only run 3 applications at a time? A thing of the past (only with XP and Vista).

For the first time, we will be making Windows 7 Starter available worldwide on small notebook PCs. We are also going to enable Windows 7 Starter customers the ability to run as many applications simultaneously as they would like, instead of being constricted to the 3 application limit that the previous Starter editions included.

  • I don't know why you'd consider this for $291 instead of the $198 HN rain-check model.

Only difference seems to be .06ghz of the CPU (and a preferred touchpad), for almost $100 extra.

There's more to CPU's than just the cycles. The n270 was first released mid-june 2008 while the n450 was released start of this year. Cant be bothered explaining the differences (google it). But for example, i hear the new series has better battery life by an hour or more compared to old CPU. Id pay 100 bucks for that alone. Neway, you should be able to appreciate the differences in technology that can occur in a CPU over a one and a half year period.

    • The graphics is slightly better too.
edit: if the other one is a 6-cell battery, I'd go with that one. You'll still get more hours than any improvements in the newer chip.

  • (deleted - ASCII didnt come out the way i intended)

  • 10% sale appears to have been extended to Monday 26th April
