Hardly that much of deal at $7 cheaper than JB but you have to be a member
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-home-entertainment/hd-televisio…

    • +3

and you could easily get JB to knock off a bit more too…

      • +2

You'd certainly hope there's some room on that price or try and get them to throw in some accessories like a wall mount.

  • +3

Also it should be noted that the "lifetime warranty" however that works exactly (couldn't find it with a quick Google) at least requires you to keep a valid membership going, I presume continuously.

    • +1

Because it's a good, big telly I would presume. Pretty much all good, big telly are 4k nowadays.

    • Yeah, I kinda agree.

My friend has this same TV, and while the lack of 'fly screen effect' due to the higher resolution/pixel density is great, we still were gaming at 1080p, as virtually no 4K content available.

I have just recently purchased 130" projector screen, and a Benq w1070 projector, which comes up at just over $1000. Obviously speakers + installation on top of that. But still. I'd prefer my set up and save a few thousand. Each to their own though. for 4K, unless you have a large projector screen, in my opionon, I agree it's an overkill.

Again, the price between 1080p panels and 4K is narrowing so quickly, that the money saved sometimes for 1080p over a 4K panel isn't really worth the saving. Sometimes it's only a couple of hundred dollars.

Netflix has 4k content. I am with Internode NBN old plan with Netflix unmetered in Canberra….win win…
but I still agree not to spend $4k on tv.
also Coscto kicks JB (well infact any retailers) easily with its life of membership warranty.

how long is lifetime? , the owners life or the reasonable life of the tv

        • +1

Life of Membership. if you live 100 years and keep your membership active all 100 years then yes 100 years of warranty

        • In Australia, it's still actually a lifetime. That is, your lifetime, as long as you maintain membership. In America, they've had to introduce limitations due to abuse, e.g. most tech was brought down to 4 years on their returns policy.

Any reason you'd spend more then $1000 on a car. It still gets you from A to Z??

      • +4

Why neg me? I'm making the point that people should spend however much they want on whatever they want to. Some people love big tv's. Others love nice cars. Others prefer clothes. Some like expensive meals. Who cares what people want to spend???

What on earth makes you think internet is shitty in Canberra? From people I know that live there they have ridiculously high speeds, fibre has had quite a bit of priority there (gee, wonder if that's a coincidence because of so many politicians owning land etc there) etc…

  • +7

@cDNA been after a bigger screen tv for a while and just because I live in Canberra please don't assume I have shitty Internet, I currently have NBN.

    • lol Canberra is THE capital not some outback place of nowhere.

      • Yea Cranberry is the capital of the outback
They got fishn, an shootn roos, evrythn roolly

  • I personally think your mad if you don't buy 4K tv now..Already there is contend out there and the player is just around the corner(few weeks).

I dont expect TV to go 4k in Australia for a long long time…

Wish I had the cash, I would be in, seems like a good telly..

Anyone know if the new one coming in the next few months is much better than this?

    • New one is already here with no significant improvements but cheaper plastic build, LED backlighting downgraded from Full-array to Edge, lacks 3D, lack of contrast and deep black levels (IPS display panel) compared to this model X850C (VA type panel). Also priced $7499

"Costco offer peace of mind with our Lifetime Warranty (excluding Whitegoods, Electrical and Televisions)"

    • Not true, just asked a customer service rep and lifetime warranty applies on all goods. She even said if it stops working after 5 years feel free to bring it back and we will refund your purchase price!

    • +1

We all need something in writing, rather than hearsay from both sides.

    • please elaborate "excluding Whitegoods, Electrical and Televisions" why these are excluded from life time warranty??

  • I think people are confusing the US policy vs AUS policy..

two different things. The AUS policy has not got the US limit of 90 days(i think) on electrical goods)

    Well not yet anyway

I think the problem with Costco Life time warranty is that it is not written anywhere (well I am unable to get anything in writing). Having said that, I have seen people returning their used TV's here in Canberra over the weekend confirming that it is being honored. Also it appears that it is across the entire product range (almost)

How much is it extra for a 5 year warranty from JB-HIFI?(on this 4000 dollar tv)
Is it cheaper than 60 x 5 year that a costco membership will cost you?

    mixo

    • Good point.

    • +2

Costco doesnt charge $60 membership fee for each item you purchase. just fyi if you dont know

    • JB repairs your TV while with Costco you get your money back (to get the latest if you wish).
Also it is probably easier and faster with Costco too.

  • I'd be holding off for HDR TV's if you can.

    • +1

      This is a HDR TV

      • I missed that. Very interesting.

  • Can anyone find a better price preferably under <$2k for the 65" Sony KD75X8500C?
Friend of mine bought this 65" one for $2100 back in December and it appears like a very good TV for that price

Wow.. negative vote for asking a question?

  • +1

I can confirm their life time warranty policy, although mine was for a 3yr old TV. I took my $2500 Samsung TV exactly after 3yrs(OS started playing up), it might not have even been a hardware issue. They asked one questions, why am I bringing it back, told them the reason and that was it, done. Fully refunded.
When I purchased it, the salesmen said I could return it after 10yrs if I wanted to and get an upgrade.

Although recently, I noticed the life time warranty may not apply on products that are in the bargain/special corner, eg ex diplays.
