Hi All,

I was just browsing TV section in various websites for a mate and came across this deal.

It looks like a good deal, especially with 3yr warranty. I don't need smart though.

It would be nice if company's published what file types and codecs are supported by their TV's.

    • Target has the 48" fhd 3 years warranty for $399. Smart tv imo is not worth the price as you can easily Connect external devices.

      • target online or instore?

In store only but ring up to see stock. They are not selling 48" online coz as of now. The brand is called platinum

      • Can you even get NON smart tvs nowadays…?

I agree with you, I don't need it to have any of the inbuilt apps and that crap. But i don't think it can be avoided

      • They have a 39" for 359. Couldn't find anything bigger there.

        • Its in store only. I checked in castle plaza SA a week back they had stock. They even had a 55" for like $550 or something. The picture quality wasn't that sharp and the staff said it's coz they were playing through dvd player which was 720p standard definition not 1080P.

It's better to see in store to see the quality of picture or even better to get a usb along with 1080p content or connect a device like mobile or tablet to confirm before buy. There are lotsa cheap crappy LCD TV around and they are pretty much the same with different branding.

        • @Rsg:

SE Bris here. I'll check it out, and take along some varied file types with the latest codecs. I'll ask for a discount when the MKV (x265 - HEVC) doesn't play. :-)

        • @JH100: discount will be hard coz they will either ask you to call the manufacturer or offer refund if it cannot be fixed. I was hoping they will do a special on tv this week but nothing mentioned on there catalogue.

        • @Rsg:

Went there this morn. The 48" is no longer stocked - already went to 'special', according to man in dept.

I can wait for sales, no hurry.

        • @JH100:last time I saw it was $399.. Not sure about any special

    no Netflix app on tv

    • thanks for confirming that. I suppose the Google Chrome can be used to install all the smart apps anyways?

  • Any way of getting netflix on it?

    • Yes, just buy google chromecast and plug that into the HDMI. Google it and you will see that it has all the apps you need Stan, presto, netflix etc

Kinda defeats the purpose of a smart tv if you need to plug in a third party device I have the older version of Google chromecast.

Be good if you could download the app to the tv without needing chromecast.

        • Agreed on that. I thought most of the SMART TVs come with these as standard.
