  • Need price somewhere lol.

  • Is second SIM 2G only or 3G/4G (when the other SIM is on 4G)?

    • Only one SIM can be 3G/4G, the other will run on 2G.

Worth pointing out, its a 10 second software swtich to change it, so not a big deal if you need to hop between the two.

      • Except 2G is being switched off on Telstra on 1 Dec 2016, and being switched off on Optus on 1 Apr 2017.

      • What futaris said, second sim will be useless in 12 months.

Interesting. This is not good news for me, because I stocked up on a bunch of $5 Telstra sim cards.

Xiaomi dual sim devices support LTE on both sims. This is disappointing that Samsung can't do the same.

        • Xiaomi dual sim surely support LTE on both sims
However, if Sim1 is on LTE, Sim2 still runs 2G, then Sim2 is on LTE while Sim1 runs 2G.
Correct me if I am wrong

          @jasonchen59:

          The Mi5 supports 4G + 3G (not 2G) at the same time.

I read the Redmi Note 3 Pro supports 4G simultaneously, but I might have been wrong on that. I can't find the link to where I read that now.

Actually I just looked it up. For both devices.. both sims will be at 4G on standby, but when one is active, the other will switch to 3G.

This is the full functionality of 4G on both sims, since you aren't going to be browsing the internet at 4G with both sims at the same time, or taking two calls at the same time in 4G. This will make the phone useful even when 2G networks are shut off.

The same is true for the Redmi Note 3.

With conventional dual sim phones, one is set to 2G always, regardless of standby or active.

So yeah, Xiami = 4G Dual Standby on both sims. Samsung = one in 4G, the other in 2G.

@jasonchen59: Dual 3g standby is available now. The tech is being used by every phone manufacturer in China.

The first phone with both sim running at 3g (plus) is Xiaomi Mi5. Switch one for 3/4g data and the other sim stays at 3g to receive call/text.

        • @lostn:

Do you know if redmi note 2 is dual 3g/4g? Really want the feature of removable battery.

  • Australian stock? How are returns?

    • not australian stock…

    • Returns given my bricked 'Boot loop' LG G4 are painful…send OS and they took 5 weeks once receiving the phone to actually repair it…all up once sent back I would have been without my phone for closer to 8 weeks once original issue identified, warranty claim submitted, posted and sent back. Pretty ordinary and no repeat business from my good self!

  • Once you factor in postage, DWI is cheaper:

$795 Shipped (and can get a $10 coupon)

Android users that want dual SIM functionality on a single SIM phone should install Pushbullet. Won't be able to do calls, but you can read the SMS from your other phone as long as it has an internet connection.

    • but you cant reply back to your mistress using the other phone though right

      • Yes, you can. Just ensure the other phone has an active internet connection.

You can browse texts and send.

  • WELCOME code should give you $5 off.

anyone recently bought an aus stock S7 and can send me their receipt??

    • Why?

      • office works price beat =)

        • He didn't ask for a receipt with a price cheaper than Officeworks, just a receipt…

      • Maybe they bought an import handset and wants an AUS receipt to dodigly claim a TRS refund?

        • +2

That's what I thought. If that's the case then aside from being a criminal offence it's pretty disgraceful behaviour, ripping off taxpayers…

        • @nexus4:

Also, unlikely but I'm sure it could happen, the genuine purchaser goes overseas within the 60 days and goes to claim but gets denied due to it already being on record.

        • Doesn't the receipt usually contain the IMEI number? TRS checks the IMEI number of your phone against the receipt. Not sure about now but when I bought my Nokia N9 they checked against the receipt.

        • @Zackyis:

I did initially think that but last year I bought a phone from Officeworks, then found it cheaper at Coles, so returned the original to Officeworks. As I thought the IMEI would be important, I checked the receipt and neither had the IMEI number on it.

  • Any disadvantages of dual sim phone for people who only intend to use one sim i.e. battery life, connectivity, notifications etc ?

    • Sorry wrong reply. Anyways, why would u buy a dual sim phone and intend to use only 1 slot?

      • +1

The second "sim slot" is for either a second sim or a micro SD card in the S7, many will prefer to use it to expand the phone's memory capacity

        • Forgot the s7 is dual sim by design ._. OP's emphasis on the dual sim capability confused me
