Cheap burner phone

I don't like modern phones, I just need something simple. Is there a burner phone that comes with prepaid?

i thought the american term Burner phone was becuase it couldnt be traced - no id needed etc, which isnt the case here.

I assume you just mean a simple phone. What carrier are you going to use - telstra and optus has got prepaid phones for about $30.

    • Burner phones can be traced, what makes them untraceable is when they are only used exactly once briefly after the SIM is activated and then thrown away immediately afterwards.

but there is no id check in the US (well never used to be, like Australia never did), just buy credit (I guess in cash) and away you go, then throw it away after the credit is used.
I am sure originally that is what it meant.

Most "burners" are used for a short period of time, not just once. Originally "burners" were prepaid phones purchased with cash and without contract making them harder to track and easy for people to use for certain (illegal) activities. The phone and more importantly the number would then be disposed of when it was considered “burned,” or too risky to use. Rinse and repeat.

        • yeah, thats what I thought - you just said it more clearly than me.

  • you could still use you G2 phone?

When you're burned, you've got nothing: no cash, no credit, no job history. You're stuck in whatever city they decide to dump you in.

  • If you're lucky, some Dick Smith stores are selling a basic Telstra-locked phone for $8.70 (after 70% discount).

More info of the phone here.

If what you want is a phone without having to use a government issued i.d at some point during registration of said phone, you are out of luck, they don't exist here.
Exactly to make it impossible for you to have a "burner" phone.

      ^ nope.

      1. careful purchase with cash via gumtree using computer that is non-identifying.

      2. moreover, flasher boxes allow one to flash any IMEI one pleases into the phone. the best box to use will depend on phone model but yes. this is entirely plausible.

      3. matters for identifying phones are even more nuanced. all RF devices have slight imperfections within them, giving subtle but differentiating RF "fingerprints"

      4. it is technologically feasible to detect the same RF fingerprint but with two IMEIs. the implications for this are that someone has pulled the dodge at point 2. http://ijcsmc.com/docs/papers/May2015/V4I5201553.pdf

if this to to bang some chick I can't see how you would need anything more sophisticated than #1.
if your adversary is a nation-state, then the mere fact that you are posting this here is another matter.

moreover, a better more effect approach for developing an OPSEC protocol is to determine what it is you seek to hide, and from whom.

      • I want to bang some chick. Flash bang them.
