    I think its a Navigon 3300/3310 Max

    • retails at Harvey Norman for $248

    • I think it's a fair bet. In the product specs it says "Memory: 1 GB Flash (3300 max) / 2 GB (3310 max) / 64 MB RAM". Looks like they forgot to edit that bit out!
Too bad I already ordered the 1300 for $80 last week. The bigger screen would have been nice.

  • Certainly looks like a navigon.

  • Is currently on 'sale' in the harvey Norman catalogue for $248.

Based on only this… Seems like a good deal.

Also, there is a fairly big hacker community out there for these units if you are so inclined.
Only thing it is missing is bluetooth!

    • Know if you can get the Homer voice for this?

  • Havent even got my hands on the Navigon 1300 that i ordered last week yet

wonder if i can ask for a refund …. been a week, paid for it right after ordering no news till today lol

  • Same here. Mine havent even gotten over the payment stage! Which is extremely lame as I ordered around 3pm and it was on credit card. They've already taken the money but the thing still isn't even in processing.
I wish we'd known about this earlier. Would'nt mind paying a lil extra for much larger screen :|

  • Guys

Would this would unit turn off and on automatically when car is on/off? Trying to avoid having to manually keep switching it off when getting out of the car and on when starting it.

    Cheers

Never leave your car with the GPS mounted in public. People steal them way too often. Even an empty mount will prompt them to raid your glove compartment. In response to your query, I don't know.

  • I got the Navigon 1300…. it arrived yesterday, I've already updated to the latest maps. :) And that model does go into standby mode once you turn off the car, so I'm betting this better model is the same :)

  • Actually… what I'd like to know - is if I buy this particular one, and I already have the 2-year map subscription for the Navigon 1300, can I copy the map update off the Navigon 1300 and put it on this model? So I don't have to get another subsciption? ;)

I would say the maps would be different as the screen sizes are but not sure.

This is defiantly a 3300 which is $249 in Harvey Norman. Bought the 1300 for $80 but will buy this too. Pass that onto another family member. This is such a great prices for a very good GPS.

  • hey webbie, where did you get the maps from???

I have already ordered a small one but now that i saw this i want the bigger 1…but i want to know if i should get the maps with this one???

anyone able to pm me where to get maps?

    • +1

Me too, but I'm looking for a NZ map if there is one.

  • Anyone know if getting the subscription means you can download any world wide map for 24mnths or only Australian maps?

  • Can you perform a text search for points of interest eg type in 'Melbourne zoo'?

  • +3

I can't answer the question about the overseas maps…. I was only looking at the Australian map.

You have to download the "Navigon Fresh" software, and then you can register your GPS, and hiding somwehere in the software is the "Latest Map Guarantee" button, which allows you to download the latest map (Q1 2010 Australian for me). That's without the subscription.

I did also get that 24 month subscription, but I haven't activated it yet! It doesn't have to be activated till the end of 2011, so there's plenty of time.

Reading the fine print for the 24 month subscription, it isn't unlimited updates! You only get 4 updates over that period - so to use it properly, you need to use it once every 6 months.

So, I now have the latest maps (thanks to the "Latest Map Guarantee"), so I'll now wait 6 months before activating that 24 month subscription (effectively giving me 2 1/2 years of updates). Hope that helps some of you out!

    • Great tip webbie, where did you get the 2011 to hold off until activating account from?
      Thanks

      • It's on the back…. the subsciption is separate to the GPS box, it's a little plastic wrapper with a coloured "brochure" looking thing inside. The back of that says it has an expiry date of Dec 2011 (at least that's what mine says).

  • Just bought one before few mins. Thanks to you guys who suggested it to be Navigon.

I had a look to the available information about this product (and of course, your valuable comments above) before placing the order.

Hope this would be a very good GPS as the bargain is. Cheers.

  • Guys

Just to answer my previous question this unit has auto power on and off…taken from the manual~

Select "Power Loss" in order to switch the device to standby mode
when the external power supply is interrupted. As soon as the
device is connected again to the external power supply it will switch
    on again automatically.

  • Picked up one of these. Very good deal. Had my GPS stolen the other week, so will hopefully be a decent replacement.

    • :O how did that happen?

  • Thats sad. Well you'll be happy with the Navigon. I've got a couple and there are a great device. Stuff paying more for a TomTom. Not worth it and they are the best anyway. Just a brand name

  • BTW they have sold out.

  • anyone received it yet? i find COTD supposed to be quick shipment. But why this time slow?

  • I ordered the other one (from last week, the 1300), and still haven't received it yet after 1.5 weeks. First time ordering from COTD. Are they always this slow? Even standard post only takes a couple of days from Melbourne. Courier should be much quicker.

    • This GPS is my 8th purchase from COTD and this time, as previously mentioned, a little bit slow. But, you can always contact them to check what's going on. Can't wait to try my hands on my first GPS.

  • I got mine today. Trying to setup it with my PC. Not sure if I have done it correctly. I went to download Navigon Fresh on its website. After that, I registered an account and registered my device. Next, I clicked My System then clicked Latest Map Guarantee. Currently, downloading the map. Am I doing the right thing? There is no instruction what I should do.

Another thing is I received a card size light thing from COTD with the package. May I ask what is it for? Thanks.

    • Got mine today also. Ditto the above post from IHello. Thanks for the advice on what to do once you get to the website. I have no idea. Great little gadget though. Still cant figure out though what the Card size light thing is. Sharon

  • Is this Navigon 3300 max? Anyone bought one please comment/review on this unit? Is it worth to get 2 year subscription or can get cheaper elsewhere? Cheers

    • Yes! +1
Please give a review if anyone is still reading this. Does it take long to get a gps fix?
