Vale brews are nice, shame they are only 4 packs.

    • Started seeing sixers in DM's here in adelaide as well

    • it's IPA so works out to $60 for 24 ….. they always seem charge so much more for IPA ….. sure it can't the alcohol content …. maths doesn't add up for the difference.

not sure why they try and make beer seem boutique ….. it's made in industrial estates and not subject to variations like El Niño etc ….. they don't grew their own hops etc …..

      • +2

Hops are expensive. IPAs will always be more expensive. If it isn't, it's probably a rubbish IPA.

      • Yes, you don't get more industrial than the wine-growing region of McLaren Vale, South Australia. You clearly know a thing or two about beers.

        • +2

McLaren Vale Beer Co. have had a factory (yes, an industrial scale facility) for keg production for about 3 years now, so you can quit swallowing the Kool-Aid that they're a "boutique" operation. Sure, maybe once it was all hand washed bottles & individually fondled hops yadda yadda, but those days are over. They brew great beer but like any successful microbrewery they have to scale their production to meet demand. Doesn't bother me in the slightest, the beer still tastes excellent.

        • @Sir Casm:

In my opinion, anything under a 50hL brewhouse (the size of Feral/Nail's for example) is boutique. Vale is 35hL. Hawkers started operations with a 45hL and are now planning a bigger one. I doubt many people outside of the Melbourne beer scene have even heard of them. Even outfits like Feral, who most people in the craft beer scene know well, would be completely unknown to most Australians. And no-one in the history of Australia has ever called Willunga an industrial estate…

        • @dazweeja:
          'Melbourne beer scene'

          Lol

        • @mackaxx:

There's a big craft beer scene in Melbourne. Mainly dudes with beards that drink beer, brew beer and talk about beer 24/7. They have Facebook beer groups and get a bit too excited by spontaneous fermentation. Not my thing though.

        • @dazweeja:
Seems I got out of dodge at just the right time then, may have become one of them.

          Calm down Melbourne

  • Another month of crap offers from Dans

  • +14

Bring back the $10 6 packs

    • +4

only if it's something decent though…

      • Agreed, trying to flog summer beers in the wrong season. This month is squire swindler and last month was the 'Gage road session ale'

        • Well it is practically still summer in Brisbane anyway

      • Or something OK with a bag of corn chips.

Locally brewed Kirin taste nothing like the import. Good price on the Cider.

    • +4

Agree, got some last week and was disappointed. Brewed under licence is rubbish

      • +2

Agreed, I had a proper Japanese Kirin last night and it's so much better.

        • I'm buying genuine kirin beer in a can of 0.5l 5% alcohol for 3.20 or something near that at local japanese shop at Buranda Shopping Centre

also good selection of cheap sake for something like $14 per 2l carton box. :) tastes like dilluted vodka for me but still does the job

        • @Michael1983:

Legend. I know where I'm going tomorrow!

    • And I think this is the 2nd time they've had it in the program. It was awful last time.

  • +2

Crap. This program has really gone downhill..

Vale IPA is the business. . Done deal for me

    • +1

I grabbed a pack of the Vale this morning.

  • -2

$2.42 per can for the JD and sugar free cola seems ok. Cola is cola.

    • +1

      $58 down from $60. What a saving!

  • +2

Johnnie Green is $65, possibly the lowest I've seen it since it's reintroduction and cheaper than Costco by 99c

  • +6

6 pack of Becks with pretzels

these pretzels are………..oh wait, beer. Perfect.

    • Wonder if the becks is imported

  • Re the Kirin: Beer is brewed, not pressed …

    • +4

apparently they weren't allowed to write pisswater

      • +2

could be doing much worse than kirin

        • +2

Could be doing much better too :p

  • Finally some decent beer! Will be making a few trips to Dans this month for sure!

  • +3

When did beer snobs get snobbier than wine snobs?

    • +11

      Since beards

      • I object to that! I've been a beerwanker since long before hipster beards.

j/k though. As much as I do love a frothy Imperial IPA head clinging to my twirly moustache, I hate people being overly precious and pretentious about beer.

  • +1

Some decent beers again, better than they have been anyway.

I love how people race to post these deals from Dan's, I wonder if they sit around waiting for the email to pop into their account or in to the Dan's mobile app…?
