  You gotta be careful with these adapters if your expecting to use them on gigabit networks. Some of these adapters limit the throughput to 100Mbit ethernet whereas others limit it to USB2.0 max which is 480Mbit. Obviously the latter is preferred.

  i used one of these for ages until I dropped something on it and ripped out a usb port and smashed the thing. worked fine. I bought one similar to what Slapaz is selling for $2 from ebay and it has been working fine for the last 3 years.

  so, yeah, many many cheaper alternatives else where.
