Good printer for casual use?

I'm looking to buy an All in One Colour Printer for casual use. I don't want ink drying up mainly cause I don't use the printer often. I also don't want expensive ink cartridge. Can anyone recommend me some printers? the initial cost can be anything it's just the ink cost that matters me most.

EDIT: Are there any printers besides epson ecotank that have refillable ink cartridges?

  • Stock up on cheap printers when you need new ink, throw printer out.

    • but most printers come with half filled cartridge

  • Non genuine ink is so cheap.

Just buy any printer and ebay the replacement ink.

Avoid non-genuine for coloured ink. They never give you accurate colours.

Get a cheap laser printer. The toner keeps longer than ink.

    • Was going to suggest the same thing.

    • HL-1110 paid between $28-$40. Or wireless version mono laser for $50-$80. Or wait for a cheap wireless colour laser. Search under ozbargain for past deals.

Ink only lasts about 3 months and dries up - use or not. laser lasts much longer.

      • Check ebay.

I recently bought a duplex large office colour laser printer off eBay for ~$10. It was incorrectly listed by it's model number. The issue with it is the upper thermal roller is damaged. Bought one from aliexpress for $15. These printers are currently selling for $800+ brand new.

This. My $30 Brother laser is an awesome lil machine :)

      • Brother laser is way to go, they are cheap and even their genuine toner aren't that expensive.

  • Are any colour lasers even half-decent for photos?

  • Are there any printers with refillable ink? I see most of printers only do cartridge only

  • Definately the brother laser. Mine is going strong after 3 years. No toner changes so far
