GoPro Hero+ LCD $174.30 @ Target (in Store Only)

670

Found this is Target today @ Vic Park, WA. There was a number of them in the cabinet and is nationwide Thanks CVonC. Was originally $429 on release, reduced to $249 and with another 30% off dropped to $174.30.

Comparatively, staticice shows the cheapest is at the Good Guys for $349
Harvey Norman has it listed at $448.
Officeworks at $439.

Reviews seem pretty good, but was bagged for the original price tag and compared to the Hero 4 silver its flexibility was criticised.

Review 2.

I think at this price range its much more competitive. Even though it has a non-removable battery and waterproof casing and no micro-HDMI, it does have positives in Wi-Fi/Bluetooth capability and the touch screen LCD. Also waterproof casing is rated to 40m.

Yes if you keep it in the waterproof case.

Rang Chadstone. None there, but mentioned there are 6 at Glen Waverley. Line up early if you want one.

    • Nice to see someone actually looked it up for you!

      • Yeah, most of the time they say they can't check other stores' stock

        • This is because of various reasons including the fact that you need a manager to log on to a computer and the system to check stock can take up to ten minutes to open if it's not already open.. Often it's not worth it

        • +3

@Retail: Well it's appreciated when staff go that extra mile to help. Doesn't happen often.

  • Online showing out of stock

    • Out of stock ages ago online

  • Who's gonna pricematch at OW? people had pretty good success with the Lumia 640 :)

You'd have to do a phone price match though.

    $165.59 give it a go!

    • I think officeworks will only price match if its advertised and stock is available..
      Good luck :)

      • yep.. but

      • -1

I think officeworks will only price match if its advertised and stock is available..

        you would be wrong…

while this is often the case it all comes down to how you communicate and who you get to serve you

        just one example https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/246747#comment-3675410

ive been hundreds more in different OzB deals over the years.

if you care enough its worth a fone call to see if you get lucky

        • You could be wrong.. Judging from the comments here only 1 person had any luck..

          but nice try..

        • @Roary: hahaha you say im the one who is wrong…. however even in this deal you admit that im correct and that at least one person that you know of managed to get a price match? do you even try to understand what you are trying to say before you hit the enter button? your comment is a complete contradiction

besides the fact that when i read the comment there was 2 or 3 people who got a pricematch, or maybe im thinking of the other similar deal where a heap of people got price matches from officeworks when you claim its not possible

    • Just tried pricematch at OW - no go.
Apparently a few people have tried already and Officeworks online staff have been advised not to price match.

Story I got is that Target and Officeworks are under the same umbrella company (that was news to me)… so they are aware of the clearance.
Their policy is to only price match 'like for like' - same product, under same conditions.
Because Target are not offering the product for online purchase (ie. have to walk into shop to pick up) then it is not the same conditions, so they won't price match.

      Maybe others have better luck….

      • Damn, Aceboy884 was lucky then.

Not very helpful when someone is asking from their phone. We don't all get free data and during work hours we don't all get time to search Youtube (in fact, my last office had it blocked).

        • +1

          Then do it at home

        • What do you want me or anyone else to type from their phone?

I mean the questioner can easily google the specs. But specs don't tell the whole story in regards to picture quality, smoothness, shake, colour reproduction etc

And yes. You can always do it at home

  • None within 400km of me dammit.

  • Anyone know of stores in Sydney that have availability?

    • I've posted stock quantities above 2 below

  • None at Rhodes and Top Ryde.

  • None at Leichhardt.

I manage to buy two from office works price match

    • Phone price match?

  • +1

They had three and I bought two by calling

    • Which store was this?

      • Phone order

No store had it I Sydney

  • No stock around Brisbane. Completely sold out.

    • What stores are close to you if I haven't listed them below?

      • I just called Target this afternoon, the person said there's no store that still has stock in Brisbane. Did the person lie?? Cause you mention there are 3 stocks at Brisbane CBD.

        • Customer Service has access to the same stock system as stores to check stock levels.

So technically yes they did lie, however that is most likely to make you happy, instead of telling you that stock that has probably been stolen exists.. And then you ringing the store to be told that there is none!

  • Was at target they were selling the non-lcd Hero4 Session for $300. Was almost tempted to buy. But then having the lcd seemed like a nice feature.

    • 300 is about the normal price for the session. I got one for $256(?) from jb who price matched the good guys.

Works great and you can preview with a smart phone.

  • no stock at Robina or southport park stores gold coast

        • Thanks again, Retail!
Merrylands is the only one of those that I might be able to get to tomorrow, marginally closer than Chatswood which I could do by train. Both a bit of a journey but I'll call ahead.
(Chatswood and Miranda now both sold out though, according to comments below).

Oh well, if it's not meant to be, so be it.

          @Retail:
To be fair, I think I've read before that stock changes take 24-hours to show up on Target's system.
I suppose your list effectively shows today's sales figures!

        • @sam buster:

Most likely true as the system updates and syncs in the evening.. It could also be stolen stock..

    • +1

      Chatswood and Miranda are out.

Spewing … went to Target @ Southgate (Reynella, SA) … there were three in the glass cabinet at the entertainment desk, with a white "$174.30" tag in front of them. Went to purchase, scanned at $199 so the bloke manually adjusted the price … just got it home and have discovered its the GoPro Hero (not the + / with LCD screen). Boo-urns :( Although, it has two "reduced" tags on it - $379 and $249. Still a bargain, but not the model that was advertised on the tag (boxes looks basically identical to the one pictured on here).

    • Sadly the box's looks very similar :(

    • +1

it's a very sneaky "LCD" under the + on the box, very hard to miss unless you have seen them both before. But yeah def worth triple checking. Can't you take it back and try and get the lcd one? When i rang up the WA Perth stores to find them, the hero + (no lcd) were $199, so it looks like the guy scanne the right (incorrect) one, hence why he had to adjust the price to begin with.

  • City CBD Perth doesn't sell them
Bull creek store - Perth, also sold out.

    Pretty much flat out unfortunately.

Edit: pretty much all WA/Perth stores have no stock so don't bother ringing or rocking up. Zilch :( For the record i did try fremantle and midland already. HOpefully saves others from checking, although i know some will still try their luck before they believe me! :)

  • I am surprised these are even selling for these price? This is normally the non lcd version price - they mustn't be doing well compared to the other cameras. I have one myself that i used on my recent japan trip for snowboarding, did the job for me at least… but true they don't have a bit of the functionality of the typical gopros e.g. replaceable batteries, and cases are not interchangeable so one scratch on them or the lens and you throw it out, unlike the removable cases of the other gopros.

    • GoPro has discontinued production of its three entry-level cameras: HERO+ LCD, HERO+ and HERO. This explains the lower prices. Source

      • Oh really. Drats. When i had a spare unwanted one last time earlier this year they easily sold for 360 brand new.I wonder if you'd get $300 even now, the fact is harvey norman and office works are still stocking them for over $400 though? around circa $449.

out of stock but surely the price would not drop by a huge lump sum as people who want these entry model cameras can't find them retail anymore??

        • Prices are likely to depend on actual sales. I'm guessing that GoPro decided to drop their entry-level cameras because sales weren't sufficient to cover the lower profit margins on these compared to their more expensive cameras.

  • heaps of bargains, 30% off already discounted stuff at target. I got a portable dvd player for $27 normally $69. they are clearing before stocktake. heaps of phones also reduced.

  • I called the target customer line on 1300 753 567 yesterday when i saw this deal and they were able to tell me which stores in WA are still stocking it. Fremantle had 4 left when so maybe you can try your luck there if youre still looking. Put one on lay-by and picked it up after work. Cheers for the deal OP.

P.S officeworks are not willing to price match in this case, already checked

    • No worries. A + vote would be appreciated.

    • per my post yesterday i rang already and there is no stock, particulary in the fremantle.

I have rung again today and still none. I would ring the individual stores over a central target line as their stock may not update. I did manage to grab one elsewhere but can confirm it is completely out - zilch.

  • Why Hero+ LCD is expensive than Hero4 Session? This is at Officeworks. $299 vs $349. Both on clearance. Had the impression Session is better camera overall
