$30 Telstra starter pack available for $15 (shipped) from Telstra website.
Still waiting for the $5 deal to return, but I've got a few spare $30 kits to hold me over until then ;)

  So, do ppl just stock up on these in order to get Google Play credits? Does that mean having dozens of mobile SIMS activated in one name? I thought that if a person has more than 5 SIMS in their name already they have more rigorous ID checks at activation time.

    It's as simple as either calling up Telstra and activating via phone or not declaring you have an existing number with Telstra. I've got 10+ SIMs linked to my passport because I "forget" to declare I have existing SIMs.

    If you ring up you can get them activated as 'mobile' sims and use the Google play store credit.

    White starter pack can use 4G network, as long as your hardware device supports Telstra's 4G frequencies.
