Mange Treatment for Dog

Has anyone got any experience with sarcoptic mange? My dog seems to have the symptoms around his mouth and up the side of his face. I've been looking online for advice and treatments that aren't too harsh. I'm considering a wash of hydrogen peroxide, borax and water but am a little concerned as it's around the dogs side of mouth.

I'll also be putting the dog on a raw meat diet.

Any ideas and input would be great! Thanks

I advise taking the dog to the vet. The cost you spend now you will save you a fortune in the future if things get worse etc.

I'd definitely recommend visiting a vet. It's more expensive but if it ends up not being sarcoptic mange, it'll save time and money getting a proper diagnosis

my father-in-law served in Vietnam. he'll look at your dog.

  • Yeah I'll be taking him to the vet. I just want to be pro-active and have a little info and advice etc on it myself.

  • Yes, one of my three dogs got mange, we tried to save money…. it failed… in the end it cost us nearly $1000.

Best to take the dog to the vet as early as possible.

I went to the vet this morning. Not the mange, just a skin infection that got worse through him scratching it. She gave me some special dog shampoo, antibiotics and steroids. He should be fine in a week or so.
