  • Getting from Melbourne CBD to Avalon airport costs roughly same as the flight ticket price. Madness.

    • +1

But it's good for those who live around that area though…

      • Yeah, but it is advertised as "Melbourne(Avalon)" and it somewhat misleads us to believe the airport is close to Melbourne when it is actually not true. Airlines should be honest with themselves and advertise those fights as "Geelong(Avalon)" since it is closer to Geelong than Melbourne CBD.

        • That's how it's been for years and won't change any time soon. Same with London Airports, Washington DC airports, and a lot of other airports around the world.

        • @Gilby15: That is why people including myself have rightfully complained about the misleading ad for years.

Also uninformed individuals should be told what they are getting from their deals too. That is why I pointed out the cost of getting from the airport to Melbourne CBD.

        • @Gilby15:

Washinton DC aiport (Regan) its inside DC but if you are referring IAD then its in Virginia ,just by name its called washington(President) dulles internation aiport (IAD).

        • @Usher9387: It's rather obviously called Washington to show a proximity to Washington DC, not because they wanted to honour a previous president and they just coincidently happened to be near a popular place called Washington!

    • How does that maths work? Avalon is only an extra 20 mins travel time than Tulla from CBD

      • Do your maths. You can get yourself from Melbourne CBD to Tullamarine within 25 mins and the extra 20 mins to Avalon means that you'd spend 80% more if you decide to go to Avalon. Plus, there are some public transports available at Tullamarine Airport.
