What's Biltong?

Biltong is jerky, but air-dried, made from 100% Aussie Beef Topside, preservative-free.
Low in fat and high in protein, it's the perfect any-time snack.
Unlike normal jerky, our biltong is also available in 'moist' varieties, which are easier to chew, and also 'dry', which is bit more tough.

The Traditional Biltong is available in 'moist' or 'dry' and is less tough than jerky. Flavours:

  • Original (25.3% off applies on 'dry' varieties using coupon. Other varieties 10% off using coupon)
  • Chilli Garlic (25.3% off applies on 'dry' varieties using coupon. Other varieties 10% off using coupon)

The Biltong/Jerky Snapsticks are a bit more tough. Flavours:

Biltong.com.au is probably Australia's most popular online retailer of biltong, trading since 2007.

      Dear ynot1985:
      Yes we do.
However, please note that the 'dry' variant on sale for 25.3% off won't be for sale there, instead the 'moist' variant will be there, plus the snapsticks, at their normal prices. The discounts apply online only.
      Thank you :)

Oh sweet! I had 1kg of each sitting in my cart. I might get some stokkies too. Might get more biltong too :P

    • +3

Hi, I think I see your order. Thanks for always supporting our bargains, and apparently subscribing to our posts. Appreciate your continued support. I'll add a note on your order :)

      • BTW, has it been sent yet? It was a 3kg order, and I didn't get a shipping notice like some others here have noted.

  • +2

Sweet been meaning to try the biltongs from your site =)

    • +1

Lol, that was fast… rec'd the goods already

  • +1

Just in time. I ran out of my last batch and have been craving more.

    • which is better… dried or moist?

      • +1

I like moist better but I go through it much quicker than dry. Get both and see which one you like better.

      • It's a personal thing. Our customers are divided: Some always want dry, others always want moist.
If you're accustomed to beef jerky, you'll be more accustomed to the 'dry'.

        • +1

The moist is more like Italian cured porks like coppa, proscuitto, but beef, probably a coarser. The dry is more jerky like. I like both, but prefer the dry. I get it whole generally, but just shave it rather than trying to crosscut it! If you want to crosscut it you really would need a cutter, or get it precut.

          Stokkies are awesome too.

  • +8

Never thought I'd buy half a kilo of beef jerky over the internet, what a time to be alive! Can't wait to try it, thanks OP, great prices - $30 delivered.

  • +1

Thanks just ordered 2 x 1kg - would be great if you could dispatch today so I have some for the weekend :)

    • +2

Thanks so much for your order and for the upvote. It's funny, your avatar appears in our ordering system, so I can identify your order. I'll put a note requesting dispatch today, otherwise if we can't dispatch today, your postcode is eligible for Saturday delivery.

      • I wonder how that works? I don't see an option for google sign in, or an avatar on your account. Maybe it is if you click the google safe buying thing after checkout?

      • +2

For those that are curious, the following postcodes are on the Saturday delivery network:
        2600-2607; 2609; 2611-2615; 2617-2620; 2911-2914; 2900
        2300 Township
        2000; 2003; 2005-2011; 2013-2050; 2060-2082; 2084-2123; 2125-2128; 2130-2156; 2160-2234; 2750-2751; 2759-2770
        2500 Township

        • Wow that's handy to know. Is there anywhere else I can find this info?

      • thanks !

        • +1

          received - thanks !!!

  • +1

Anyone can comment on how it compares to Geronimo?

    • +5

Depends what you like. Biltong is a more natural less artificial item. Jerky is cooked and more processed.

I like both, but to be honest, I started with Jerky, and did like Geronimos, but after discovering stokkies and dry biltong I haven't gone back. When I was cutting over and finishing the last of the geronimo and eating the biltong, I did find myself wanting to get back to the biltong. Of the jerky's I'd bought though I did prefer the geronimo. They are pretty close to where I live too.

  • How long would does it keep for?

ie how long do I have to eat the 1kg?

    • +3

Because we don't add any preservatives, here are some options:
      * Freeze for best results: will last for several months. Biltong thaws very quickly.
      * Take out of plastic and keep it in the fridge in an open container where it will continue to dry out: several weeks
      * Take out of plastic and keep dry, preferably in a paper bag to absorb any moisture. The 'dry' products are more resilient and can last a few weeks if kept dry. The 'moist' products can go mouldy after a couple days if trapped in plastic or closed container or in a humid environment.

      I hope this is helpful.

  • +1

Sweet! Let's hope the B#&%STARDS at Australia Post don't let this parcel "go missing" like my last jerky order (not from you guys)…

    • +9

I share your sentiment about Australia Post, which is why I created this website:
      Australia Post Sucks

      Unfortunately, it didn't help.

      • +1

Off-topic I know, but I was fuming that their so-called investigation amounted to asking the delivery driver if he'd actually delivered it. What else is he going to say? No? Sorry I ate it? I even had CCTV evidence on the purported day of delivery which showed no delivery was made at all.

It took them more than 3 months get them to even admit it was actually and then they proceed to compensate the vendor, who now has to pass on the compensation to me. As far as I'm concerned, the vendor has fulfilled their responsibilities! Australia Post - YOU SUCK. end rant

        • +1

          That's interesting.
It sounds like they used delay tactics, hoping that the vendor or you would just give up the fight. The ombudsman / government should institute performance standards: you can't take 3 months to conclude such a simple investigation.
It also sounds like justice was never really done, because the contractor never actually delivered, probably stole your parcel, and should have been fired.
The contractors don't ever seem to be held accountable.

Good on you for having CCTV. You'll be able to fight most of your AusPost battles that way. I'm curious: Do you ever have cases where AusPost doesn't actually attempt delivery even when you're home, and simply 'cards' the parcel and makes you collect it from the Post Office?

        • +1

@biltong2go: I've had that happen 3 times. AusPost just put a card in my mailbox, saying I wasn't home, even when I was.

        • @RedHab:
This is the problem. They're not even attempting to deliver properly in the first place, and now they're charging people for holding their parcels (after a few days). There are stories of blind people being at home at the time of delivery, and having to mission all the way to the post office (after 4pm) to collect their parcels. Or disabled people. Or pregnant women. Or mothers nursing their toddlers.

        • +1

@biltong2go: Yeah - definitely. It's happened more often than not. I live in an apartment building and the guy has been known to drop the cards directly into the mailboxes without attempting delivery. We do have a number of elderly residents that may struggle to ever collect parcels. We even have an on-site manager that sits in an office on the opposite side of the wall to the mailboxes that can collect deliveries. He says he never sees them! I even got a card once that was completely illegible. The only reason I knew it was mine was that I was expecting a delivery that day and the poor bloke at the Post Office took half-an-hour to locate the right parcel!

I only use their Secure Parcel Lockers now. It's a royal pain-in-the-butt, but at least I know I'm getting my stuff.

        • @biltong2go:

I had one where they didn't even come to my house to leave a card. It was a bit of a different situation as the parcel was in a van in a different town for delivery. They sent me a final reminder a week later. It was the Apple adapter replacement, so no tracking number provided, I looked it up after picking it up.

      • LOL.

So if we don't get it next day after shipping, did you want us to let you know just so you can make a claim? Or too much trouble?

        • +1

          Not really necessary.
We try to do the tracking ourselves (usually several weeks after the fact), and we have to assess things like whether it was on the Express Post network and whether there were public holidays involved, etc.
Some Express Post services, such as eParcel Express, are no longer eligible for the next day guarantee, so we can't claim for those.
In all cases they just use delay tactics, request impossible proof, or tell me I have to lodge my claims in an unreasonably complicated manner.

    • I'm really happy with the delivery this time. Ordered at 1PM yesterday, got shipment email from Biltong around 4:30PM, and then a tracking update email from AP at 7:20AM this morning. The parcel arrived shortly after 9AM, and another tracking update email from AP at 9:23AM saying 'has been delivered'. Cannot be more happier with the whole process.
P.S. The postman left the parcel in front of my door after a knock, and I was just quick enough to catch him leaving and saying 'c u later' on seeing me open the door. Cannot complain about that.

  • Damn, Dry Chilli Garlic sold out :(

    • +2

Only the 250g sliced was sold out (still plenty 500g and 1kg sizes). However, I've gone and moved some stock from the unsliced so there should be some more of the 250g now.

  • +1

    OK now , ordered 2 x 1KG bags

  • +1

Excellent price! I've been tempted to try ordering biltong over the net but found it too expensive, though with this deal I just had to give in. just ordered half a kilo of the Chilli Garlic.

  • +1

Thanks! This will go nicely in my desk drawer at work for a hit of protein every now and then.

  • +1

Just in time! Finished up the remaining of the Geronimo Jerky from last sale.

    Ordered 2 x 500g

  • +1

excellent! cant wait for the jerky!

  • Darn 250g sliced Chilli Garlic sold out while it was in my cart. Will you be getting more in stock before the sale ends?

    • Wow, that was a fast.
I'm busy checking if there's any more we can add.
I did convert one of the 250g unsliced to 250g sliced for you, however somebody else could grab it?
Will leave another comment once I've figured out if we can add some more.

FYI there's still plenty of the Original flavour

      • Thanks I managed to put an order with it through.
However I was getting the same problem as @Ausbob below with PayPal so just opted to pay with card.
Can't wait to try Biltong, never had it before.

      • We've added a limited amount of extra now. From this point on, however, any Chilli Garlic sold will only be ready on Monday/Tuesday next week, meaning it definitely won't be dispatched today or Friday.

  • Chili garlic sold out. Any chance for some more stock? I don't particularly like the original flavour.

    • +1

We've added a limited amount of extra now. From this point on, however, any Chilli Garlic sold will only be ready on Monday/Tuesday next week, meaning it definitely won't be dispatched today or Friday.

      • Thanks. Ordered two 1kg. Looking forward to this!

  • +2

I keep getting this when I try to check out via paypal:
You've been inactive for a while, so we logged you out to help protect your account. Please return to the merchant and restart the payment process.

    • Sorry to hear about that.
I haven't heard that issue before, but some initial research suggests clearing your cache (or using a different web browser).

      • Incognito mode, and a different browser didn't work unfortunately.

    • same here….try on desktop and my mobile…same error

      • I'm also getting it. Not just on our website. I think it's affecting a lot of PayPal customers. Probably temporary. I'll try to contact PayPal.

  • +1

Any chance of a dry wors deal?

  • an we have more garlic chilli pls?

    • We've added a limited amount of additional Chilli Garlic now. From this point on, however, any Chilli Garlic sold will only be ready on Monday/Tuesday next week, meaning it definitely won't be dispatched today or Friday. (Up until now we have been selling stock that is more or less ready to go, notwithstanding the handling and packaging times).

  • +1

Missed out on the Chilli Garlc, but went with a sample of the Original to try it out.
    Now I'm hungry!

  • Giving it another go, wasn't impressed last time, too wet, and as luck would have it the dry is a great price :)

Paypal was also acting up for me, tried 2 browsers and clearing the cache.

  • +1

wonderful, needed more snacks in the office

  • +2

For some reason when I read the first part of the title, this popped into my head..

    • LOL. How perfect.

  • +1

ordered some, use to love jerky while I lived in the states, hoping this is as good :)

  • +1

Never tried this before, or any kind of jerky, but I do like salty snacks…hmmm, tempting!

Edit: nevermind the nevermind, it came back in stock after all. Ordered the smallest size of each dry flavour, looking forward to trying it. :)

  • Can you please put the second discount code (10% OFF) next to the AIRDRIED as I thought that the 10% was applied automatically.

I hope you can apply the 10% discount to my 2kg order. :)

    • Looks like the 17% off is already applied to the dry ones, and the coupon gives 10% off everything, including the already discounted dry.

  • +1

Thanks Rep. Ordered 3 kilos of wet. Can't wait.

  • +2

Great product and have always had sensational service from these guys. Pity they're not clearing out wet biltong.

  • +1

Ordered a kg of dry biltong. So damn keen.

  • +2

Lekker biltong. Smaak soos n engel op my tong gepiepie!

    • Hahaha

  • The dry 500g and 1kg sold out 😂

  • Noo… sold out of dry ones.. bummer..

  • Damn - missed out on the chilli garlic dried!

  • what is the best flavour?

  • Someone actually reported this as sold out when the coupon still works on other products?

  • +2

Original also sold out in dry. Picked up 2x 250g moist chilli garlic instead, 1c cheaper than 500g :)

Also your mobile website needs a serious rethink, having the facebook comments plugin in between prices and selection is incredibly annoying. Also the 'x in y purchased z' pop up doesn't seem to close on the bottom.

  • I snooze, I lose… all dry is sold out :( Adding any extra Original flavour OP? Like you did with the chilli garlic?? Or adding any chilli garlic for later delivery?? Thanks!

  • No dry left? I was just about to order from the other place since Im all out of jerky

  • Is it halal? Some brands are, just wondering because I love jerky!

  • When trying to order 1kg of dry original I only seem to be able to apply the AIRDRIED coupon for 10% off.. has the 17% expired? (Total is coming to $51.30).

  • Just got the package.

Loved the stokkies. Had them before at friends so more than happy to get 1 kg of it .

However this is my first time getting the dry biltong, and to me it tastes really salty….more so than stokkies….since I can't compare to other biltong, but is it meant to be this salty?

  • Ordered on the 19th, still says unfulfilled on the website, is that a normal turn around time or should I send an email?

    • Just got a shipping email, all good!
