Best Credit Card for Rewards (Flights) ?

Hi Guys,

I've generally shied away from Credit Cards in the past (personal preference, no other reason), but I can't not take advantage of all the benefits - especially with my travel plans which always come and go. The overall goal? To travel in First/Business using the points. Fast points and long haul spend points is fine either way.

I've not personally used Qantas or VA much when I fly (I have in the past Credited my miles to 3 programs - American Airlines, SPG Hotels, and Aviaca Lifemiles), but that was when living overseas, so open to changes. I'm not a fan of Qantas' redemption rates either though, which is like 1.5x higher than AA. In terms of spend, I can't say right now, it could be $30k, it could be $65k - but assume that bracket, but assume that I'm eligible for most credit cards if that's a criteria.

I'm looking for one or two, for maximum points earnings towards this, and if it comes with a bonus start - all the better. I'm leaning towards AMEX's (cobranded or direct) since their spend rates are better, it's all dependent on which one is better. Overseas trips are like 1-4 (year dependent), and domestically very little.

I'm open to suggestions, on this as well, if you guys feel there are alternatives. Thanks!

  • Why limit yourself to one or two cards? The fastest way to accumulate points is through bonus points offers, and you'll only get those once with each credit card application. When you receive your bonus points it's time to rinse & repeat. You may want to get a benchmark of your credit rating before you begin your adventure (e.g. Credit Savy).

    • Already checked the credit score, it's Good to go. But Bonus points are fine, but what is the best 'everyday spends card' I should be using.

    • Read all those. I asked for the best of ALL TIME. OF ALL TIME JIM!

      • +1

There is no such a thing called best, they all have their unique purpose to suite your unique needs.
Same goes when you getting a homeloan, car, house etc.
