Vitamix Professional Series 300 $876 (Was $1095) @ Myer eBay

90
CMYER20

This is the first time that this model has been discounted on ozbargain (petersofkensington ebay doesnt stock this model). While this blender is not for everyone as there are plenty of other cheaper models which claim to be as good or better than this, I believe it is still a bargain for people in the market for it. This is the newer model that came out 2015 in australia.

Series 750 is also discounted but that is almost twice as much and definitely not twice as good.

  • How good is this $800 blender vs a Nutribullet? I'm not bagging you, but $800+ for a blender?

    • Have one of these blenders and there is really no way to compare it to a Nurtibullet

      • +3

Sure there is, how many Nutribullets could this blender blend at once without getting clogged up, I'd think at least 3 or 4.

    • +1

i dont know because i don't have both to do a proper test.
what i do know is everyone swears by whatever blender they buy so i believe their opinions are all subjective.

      • Fair enough. The main plus points for me on the nurtibullet are how easy it is to clean and the portable mugs that come with it. Of course the price point as well.

    • +1

I have both. Once you feel smoothness of the fruit juice, you won't care how many cups you need to clean.

    • +1

      but $800+ for a blender?

A bargain for a small business when compared to a $6000 toaster.

      • lol. You can even buy a Thermomix and you'll have change left over.

        • Or three, but be careful or you might get burnt.

I've posted this 9124124 times on the internet and people continue to ignore me, why I don't know.
    http://www.omniblendaustralia.com.au/

It's the same goddamn motor, less than half the cost. I'm entering my third year with one and I use it daily, with some seriously hardcore ingredients (lemon with rind, almonds, ginger, beetroot - and big pieces - even frozen 3x3cm blocks of spinach)

I got a mate who I worked with and told him over and over again, nope - he had to buy the vitamix at Costco for like $700.
    Madness

i initially made a choice between omniblend V (?forgotten) and optimum 9400 but chose the 9400 in the end for variable speed dial. Back then i think they were only $100 apart, just checked the 9400 and its over 500 now and i believe i paid 400 something for it. Was happy with the blender but noticed after about 8 months of usage, the blade jiggled or had become loosen. Contacted froothie and they sent out a free updated jug, i just had to pay for postage. Great service but the damage was done in my mind. I gave that unit to my mum and I bought a vitamix pro 300 last year for .. can't remember now. Build quality and the jug itself was complete night and day.

I believe the jug/blades make the difference, and not necessarily the motor. The faster it spins the more heat it generates anyway which is not good.
the 300 series jug creates a better vortex than the new 6 blade jug i received from froothie.

      • I agree totally with this, the vitamix is definitely built better and looks like it will last much longer. I can easily see the buttons on the omniblend wearing out eventually. I have seen vitamix's that are over 10 years old and still work like new.
There is a reason why when you go to pretty much any restaurant, cafe or bar in America that you can almost guarantee they will have a vitamix outback.

        • Then don't buy the Omniblend with the buttons and buy the older looking one which they still sell, it looks IDENTICAL to the Vitamix (because it's basically the Vitamix) for half the price.

Also, you do see JTC blenders in stores regularly.

        • @hamwhisperer: Still dont agree with that, seen them plenty of times side by side and the Omniblend just is not made as well as the Vitamix. Surely the fact that one is made in the US and the other is made in China would be some indication of this. There is a reason why the vitamix cost more than the omniblend….

        • @Pulse123: They were literally the same blender until a certain point in time and they are still the same motor.

I've used both blenders, they are the same.

        • @hamwhisperer: Im confused as to how you can say that they are the same blender and have the same motor, the omniblend I has a 3 HP motor and the Vitamix has a 2 HP motor. Not to mention the most important part of the blender (the container), is completely different. Different materials, different blade design, different shape. On the surface they look similar but if you look closely they are very different.

        • @Pulse123: I re-ordered a broken blade for my Omniblend, it's literally the same exact part number as a Vitamix

"SENT: Vita-mix 1151 Blade - Stock now in Australia - Usually next day delivery" That's my email subject on ebay.
As for dissing the tub, maybe the 2L is cheaper (?) but the 1.5L is essentially identical to the stuff at cafes? It's about 2.5mm thick perspex looking stuff which is "BPA Free" (it's not the crappy, porous plastic)

They were at one point the same physical blender, the fact it uses the same blades, the jug seems very high quality - I'm not seeing the $800 vs $360 difference here.

EDIT: Go on google images and type in "Omniblend motor" and then "Vitamix motor"
I don't know why people have such an aversion to this thing, it baffles me.

        • @hamwhisperer: Just because you can buy blades that fit both machines doesn't make them the same. I can buy a replacement digitizer/LCD for my iphone off ebay that fits in the same place as my genuine screen. But it doesn't make it a genuine screen. You could make the same blades from 2 different materials, heat treat them completely differently and machine them to different surface finishes. They would still both fit in the same place but their material properties would be very different.

The fact is China copies everything, you could make a vitamix out of inferior materials to the near the exact same specs and most people wouldnt be able to tell the difference. I can guarantee you that the machined parts inside the motor of the omniblend wouldnt be made to the same tolerances as the vitamix. Something that seems like it doesnt matter on the surface, starts to matter more long term. I work in mechanical engineering, have seen the same things made in both china and the USA. They look the same from afar, but upon closer inspection you can easily see the difference in quality.

Im sure the omniblend works really well and i dont doubt that, but it is most definately not the same blender as the vitamix. Vitamix have been making blenders since 1921 and it shows in every aspect.

      • I got mine about 3 years ago on a bargain, like $50 off and the AUD was kicking butt, I think I got mine SHIPPED for like $220 (!) and I got the 1.5L jug - I hate the 2L, won't fit under bench tops. It's easier to clean the BPA / plastic jug and I think it even creates a better vortex internally.

My teeth ceased on my blending blades but I 10000% blame myself for that. I had a tendency of leaving the jug, with my jasmine tea in it overnight in the fridge, ready for the morning. So the blades were almost permanently immersed in liquid, I think it finally leaked into the seals and killed the blades. Otherwise it's been an exceptional purchase. The motor just doesn't give in.
My replacement blades haven't ceased but I don't leave them immersed in liquid.

BTW it's MEANT to spin fast and generate heat, the Omni is capable of re-heating a soup. (I think it's a dumb idea personally) but I even make my smoothie in a very particular order to ensure it remains cold from the friction of heating up my ingredients.

Same problems happened to my 9400. Bought a Vitamix instead. Sure it cost 3 times as much, but 3 times less problems.

        • Same here RE the 9400.

I have also tried an Aldi blender and purchased one for the parents in law. Ours is still fine but theirs pretty much exploded and was part of a recall so we are afraid to use the one we have now. Will be getting a Vitamix at some point!

  • I did not recall the exact price but Costco are selling them for less than $800.

  • seriously happy with my cheap Kogan blender which looks just like this and is fantastic.

  • +1

I LOVE my vitamix its fantastic. It cuts up everything so well and soups are so easy to make. I've had other blenders, not the ones mentioned above, and they left chunks and grit in the soup / smoothie.

My Vitamix is my most expensive thing in the kitchen but it sure is worth it. If you can't afford one new, look for second hand, cheap enough at $300 - $500 depending on model and accessories. If you can get both wet and dry jugs you can also make your own flour ect. which is good if you are gluten free, make a flour that tastes decent rather than the expensive, sweet crap from the supermarket.

Yep, I was hesitant on price at first, but really really happy with it.
