Bought a Air Con in eBay Bing Lee, and They Don't Offer a Gift Card

I bought a air con yesterday in Ebay Bing Lee, they offer 20% off. and I found Bing Lee is offering $100 gift card. I called them up to check how can I get the gift, the answer is no. They are so so rude!! Telling me, I have already got 20% off. And I am dealing with Ebay, not them. If you will to go to ACCC, go ahead. Whatever question, go to ebay.
This is a first time I buy from Bing Lee.
I should buy it from The Good Guys.

  • They are right in that ur not entitled to the gift card, but they don't have to be rude about it. That's for sure.

why would you expect the in-store offer as well

Stupidity mixed with a strong sense of entitlement

Did the opposite and got it off Bing lee store. Just so i can deal with them if any problems arise

  • Most stores tend to dissociate themselves from their eBay listings. That is normal, but surely they could be a little more tactful about it…

im sure that they brought up stuff about the ACCC first… just read the op's post , it sounds as if they are showing a very very biased view of events.

Yeah, ACCC mentioned over the phone with a store person that didn't deserve what was likely a very angry phone call.

I accepted if I buy thing in Ebay and they will not give me any other offer from retail, but I hate they said, 'you have already got 20%…' Hey, even 20% off, I still paid real money, I am not stealing your stuff!
If they are not happy with Ebay, why did they sell in ebay.
I bought many stuff from The Good Guys in ebay when they was doing 20% off. They still offered me same bonus as in retail store.

    • The gift card offer was an offer through their website. Their Ebay store offered 20% off.

I had a similar situation last year when Good Guys were offering a free Dyson DC45 with a purchase with an animal pro in store. Ebay at the time was going a 20% off sale. I contacted good guys and asked if I got the freebie if I bought through Ebay. They were happy to honour it as the Ebay deal was an offer from Ebay not an offer from Good Guys. So I was able to stack the offers.

You bought from eBay store and not in-store. No $100 for you.

    Nice contribution.

Oh, and no, you don't get the gift card.

    Well, aren't you greedy

  • Normally if there is a bonus offer on the normal site you always have to read terms to see if it excludes ebay purchases

    • -1

I just followed that link you provided and it mentions that eBay is excluded:
This offer is only available in NSW. This Bing Lee Bonus Card entitles the holder to acquire goods and services from any physical Bing Lee store (not ebay) for an amount up to the value of the Bing Lee Bonus Card within 3 months of the date of issue.

      • Actually sorry, that is the card, not the original purchase that gives you the card ;)

        • OP got an air-con. The Ts&Cs you read, relate to heaters?

          Ts&Cs for Fujitsu air-cond:
Purchase a selected Fujitsu Inverter Split Air Conditioner (ASTG09KUCA, ASTG12KUCA, ASTG18KUCA, ASTG09KMCA, ASTG24KMCA, ASTG30KMTA or ASTG34KMTA) and receive a Bonus $100 Bing Lee Gift Card. Promotion available on purchases made between 15/4/16 to 31/7/16. Must be redeemed in-store or online from Bing Lee by 31/7/16.

It doesn't explicitly say that this extra gift card promotion does not apply to a/c purchases on ebay.

        • @bluedufflecoat: Its arguable that 'online from Bing Lee' doesn't include 'online from the Bing Lee Ebay store'

        • @SirFlibbled: I'm not sure how the mechanics work exactly, but must be redeemed in-store or online, to me, sounds like, spending it, not claiming the gift card. :)

        • @bluedufflecoat: They wouldn't require you to use the gift card by the end of July considering that's the end date for the promotion. It wouldn't be considered a fair term under the ACL. So, this context it means redeeming the offer, not the voucher.

  • whats the ending?
