Just purchased 1 Supercoat Dry Dog 18kg and 1 small 3.5kg bag which came to $50.90 online at Pet Circle. Free shipping over $49.

I then applied a $10 off discount code I received by signing up to their newsletter. Must spend over $50 on dog food to be able to use code. Can't share my code as this is my first post. When you sign up to newsletter code comes almost instantly.

Total came to $40.90 and shipping was still free.

Reviews are good for supercoat dog food and canstar also rates it highly.

Thanks added to the description :)

  • My dog wont eat the cheap coles stuff…

    • Lol same. Mine only eats science diet and advanced

  • Going to be $17.99 for 10kg at Aldi this Saturday. Cheaper per kg.

    https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-sat-28-…

    • That's a great price but live in WA and don't think we have any Aldi stores open yet.

    • just buy the julius gold dry food from aldi .. it's rebranded supercoat (check the price though - supercoat @ $17.99 for 10kg might be cheaper)

      • Really? I tried it for a while and the dogs wouldn't touch it. Fussy buggers only eat the Supercoat now.

  • Good deal however not as good as the half price sales at Woolies when it has been as low as $1.50/kg. My 3 dogs won't eat anything else!

"My 3 dogs won't eat anything else!"

      I don't believe that for a second :)

      • Yeah the reviews seem a bit too positive for my liking. Although I'm sure its good stuff, my dog will eat anything other than the cheapest of the cheap from coles. I'm thinking I will save money buying something else at around $1.10 per kg instead of this $1.50 per kg.

      • Believe it although I haven't tried the $100/3kg pack from the Vets

        • So 3 individual dogs have been tried on a wide variety of dog kibble brands and they all turn their noses up at anything other than Supercoat?

          Not a chance :)

        • @jdr: You're like a dog with a bone aren't you. I am very pleased you are some kind of empath and have managed to live my life experiences. I am sorry I choose not to starve my dogs until the mongrels 'eat it'

        • @petersx:

Of course I haven't "lived your life experiences", I just don't believe that you (or anyone else for that matter) could possibly have 3 individual dogs that will eat nothing but a single brand of dog food :)

I don't imagine that anyone else here has that experience either.

I'm sure that my dog would eat Supercoat and most of the other brands if I fed it to her. After all, she has been seen eating possum poo before now. My choice of food for her is based on the ingredients included as well as my not being keen on meat or chicken "by-products" (seeing as I understand what that term means now).

    • You backyard must be full of piles of doggy poo. This stuff gives my dogs the runs - it just goes straight through them

Read this as Superdry coat and got excited

Re delivery is another option you can use to make things a little cheaper - at least once.

As far as you can see you can cancel re-delivery any time you like - but you can get 10% off your order on top of the $10 code so $56.51 for two 18kg bags.

FYI - Puppy Large breed has 29%/12% protein to fat, Active Dog has 26%/14% so better than your average filler.

Our 18 month old Swiss Shepherd is happy with either mixed in with her home cooked meal… not me the mrs.

    • How are you getting 10% off with auto customer? It is not changing the price for me when auto customer is applied. Might be my regional postcode sadface….

      • +1

you have to go into the banner advertisement at the top of the shopping cart - and accept the offer - before you add the auto-deliver period.

  • Bah just wasted a lot of time on this… oh well. Should really put this in description…

  • checked out the Canstar review, 2011
    http://www.canstarblue.com.au/home-garden/pets/dog-food/
where they compared Purina Supercoat, Chum, My Dog, Pedigree, Optimum and Purina Lucky Dog

What is interesting to me is that of these six brands compared

Purina Supercoat, and Purina Lucky Dog are owned by Nestle
Chum, Pedigree, Optimum and My Dog are owned by Mars

I've checked out the ingredients for Supercoat- Meat & meat by-products and/or poultry by-products; wholegrain cereals (wheat and/or sorghum); cereal by-products and/or vegetable proteins; other cereals

Ingredients on Purina Lucky Dog: Cereals and cereal by-products and/or vegetable by-products, meat and meat by-products essential vitamins & minerals and/or amino acids, food colour.

Pedigree ingredients : GROUND WHOLE GRAIN CORN, MEAT AND BONE MEAL CORN GLUTEN MEAL, ANIMAL FAT SOYBEAN MEAL,, CHICKEN BY-PRODUCT MEAL, DRIED PLAIN BEET PULP, GROUND WHOLE GRAIN WHEAT,

Optimum ingredients Meat & meat by-products ; sorghum and/or rice and/or wheat; barley and/or corn; chicken digest; cereal protein; beet pulp

My dog ingredients: Selected Wholegrain Cereals (corn, wheat, rice & barley), Meat and Meat By-Products, Cereal Protein, Poultry Digest, Beet Pulp

None of the brands specify which meat is used, whether it is human grade, and what meat by products they use

None of the better and independent brands eg Ivory Coat (Aussie Brand), Black Hawk (kiwi), Applaws, Canidae, Ziwi Peak etc found their way in the survey

Compare this to the ingredients in the dog food I buy: Chicken, menhaden fish meal, lentils, peas, potatoes, dried whole egg
I think I will pay a little extra and stick to what I feed my dog, rather than wonder what meat by products and cereal by products are
