Actually, the OzB way is to buy now, think (justify) later.

$188 isnt that great a price.
a documentary exposed Beats by Dr Dre to be no different than a chinese $5 headphone, just re-branded and sold for $500+ . Lots of videos on youtube open up and found same circuits, even serial numbers inside were same as $1-$5 headphones. It's really shameful and has pretty much destroyed Beats brand. Sound quality tests have also proved this.
I have been avoiding them ever since truth came out, if you really want premium look for sennheiser.

It's probably that one, which in my opinion is kinda unfair to bring up because:
1. The breakdown was done with a fake one
2. That model is an old model and Beats have been getting better (to an extent where someone like Tyl would recommend one of the latest model).
3. Components on headphones are not exactly expensive to begin with. I can probably come up with similar comments with HD600 which is mostly plastic and get flamed by people.Do you really need a documentary to know they are worthless? Countless comments on OzB have been warning people of the brand since forever.

Sure this is a different product to the Solo headphones, but I would not be surprised by these bluetooth headphones are really just some rebranded $5 Chinese headphone given it's brand history and former association of our beloved Monster brand. And now that they are owned by Apple…well that is just full circle for the marketing machine.
But if it's some fashion item people are looking for, well that's a whole different ball park.
To be honest, I own 3 different sets of Beats. (Tour 2, urBeats & Studio's) They're really not that great. I've had the Tour's replaced by Apple twice, and they produce far from great audio.
Any ozbargainer can see these are a complete waste of $$

Its perfectly normal to find the same compenents in chinese made stuff using the exact same bits and peices across brands because not every company makes every component in house, its often more economical just to put an order through for 7 million hex head screws or lcd screens that meet your requirements.
having said that beats are way overpriced. you pay for all that marketing, hype and percieved wealth status for average kit.
I rate my xaiomi audio stuff way better at a fraction of the cost.
Can we have a blanket deletion rule on anything telling us about Beats?
;)I have the original Beat Solo and I don't think it is a good headphone. Was aiming for a Sennheiser Momentum Over Ear 2.0 currently but are not prepared to pay more than $300 for it, think Sennheiser is much better than Beat.

If you are looking for cheap ones, I could recommend QCY from China.
I found QCY QY12 to be compact enough to recommend for running (I got one, but I haven't used it for running or anything like that yet).
These look great but I think they will come up at a better price somewhere down the line. Wait. It's the OzBargain way.
