How did you discover OzBargain website first time and when?

Hi All,

OzBargainers is a very interesting and growing community. Apart from sharing deals/bargains, we share our thoughts, advices and experiences about everything in life, not just shopping. It will be great to know how everyone discovered OzBargain for the first time in life and when? I personally moved here after living in the US for a few years where I was active on deals2buy.com, dealsea.com and dealigg.com. When I first landed in Australia about a year back, I found everything extremely expensive here and I immediately started looking for similar deal/bargain websites desperately. Soon, a friend suggested ozbargain.com.au and I haven't spent more than two-three days at a stretch without checking the website once ever since then. I wouldn't say deals here are anywhere even close to those on American bargain websites in the most cases, but they are still the best available to us here and hope they keep improving as time passes - fingers crossed. So, this was my story and now OzBargain is an integral part of my life.

Share your story and experiences with OzBargain or the Bargain world in general! :-)

Sep 2007, googling pizza coupons. Didn't become a regular until 2012 though.

  • Found it around 2009/2010 when Googling for free stuff.

  • 4 years ago went searching for free stuff. Spent a good couple of hours going through every page of Freebies.

  • I sometimes feel I am addicted to it now.. it's not a bad addiction though.

I was looking for a new phone last year and was thinking about getting a Chinese android. Google sent me here. I found a great deal and got a lot of very helpful advice from the OzB community. Now I check out this site every day.

  • Friend introduced and now I check daily ( almost)
What u like about it is people's experiences -comments on how crap or awsome a deal is or a better deal elsewhere

    • Everything.. It's not about a particular deal though - general stuff.

4 years ago I was sitting in a doctor's waiting room flicking through a magazine and there was a brief mention of ozbargain, got home, looked it up and the deals on the first page didn't interest me too much until one day a year later happened to go to it again and this deal was on

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/117765

And the ever so helpful unity1 mentioned price match at Officeworks, my first deal thanks to OzB that too on an iPad and have been hooked since…….have made needed purchases thanks to it but many more unneeded or didn't think I needed it until it's been put up here like headphones, Bhuja and many more.

that day will go down in ozb history

      • It used to be thought that the events that changed the world were things like big bombs, maniac politicians, huge earthquakes, or vast population movements, but it has now been realised that this is a very old-fashioned view held by people totally out of touch with modern thought.

The things that really change the world, according to the Chaos theory, are the tiny things. A butterfly flaps its wings in the Amazonian jungle, and subsequently a storm ravages half of Europe. An innocent comment made by Neil in reply to a shy young lady and subsequently, here I am:O

    • Wow.. didn't know about it!

It's sad, but I've always wanted to move to America for their deals haha

    • Not your fault at all!
