If you need a cheaper option

    DC43H for $199
    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/vacuum-laundry-appliances/vac…

    • V2 … vs … V6 engine vroommm~!!!

      different league ?

    • Just keep in mind that you are saving less than $25 dollars by getting older tech.

Just seems like for the 12% premium, you'd be better off getting the latest generation.

Not for everyone of course, but worth mentioning.

      • You're right.

Though in my case I got the AMEX $50 off over for spending $350. If I cancel that and get this, I'd need to find another $200 to spend at HN and try as I might, I can't find anything worth buying.

So in my case it's $150 for the DC43H.

I don't even need it. I'm only using it to clean the inside (around the dust bag) of my Miele, which I obviously can't use the Miele itself to clean.

  • How is this compared with Miele C3 Allergy one.for $312?

This Dyson is a cordless handheld, the vacuum you mentioned in a full sized corded one. The Miele is more powerful but an equivalent question would be going to a display home and asking if it's as big as a hotel.

      • Which vacuum cleaner is the hotel in this analogy and which is the display home?

    • The Miele is more versatile and powerful, but it's also a full barelled vacuum.

The DC58 is a handheld and battery powered, making it convenient to clean a car for instance.

You can't clean floors with this thing though because there's no stick. It was made for a specific purpose (dusting, mattresses, stairs). The Miele can do all of that as well as floors, but it can't do it cordlessly.

If you don't need cordless, get the Miele.

If you want cordless get this. Though be warned, the battery life is only 15-20 mins or so. I had a DC59 Animal and it claimed 20-26 mins battery life, but I'd be lucky to get 15 mins on a full charge, which I wasn't even able to finish cleaning my car with. The charging itself takes a long time.

In retrospect I didn't find much use for a handheld. The only thing I can think of that I might need it for is cleaning a house where the electricity has been canceled. But you woulnd't be able to do it on one charge.

      • Thanks. I presume Miele comes.with some.attachments (free) which can be used to clean car, sofa, door-window gaps?

        • The standard attachments are included. Floor head (varies by model), crevice tool, brush tool, and one other tool which I've forgotten. Some models give you a mini head as well for mattress/stairs.

No stock at my local Good Guys, $30 for shipping.

  • What the difference between this and the newer model V6?

    • +1

It has the same V6 motor, the only difference is that the other V6 models (e.g. V6 fluffy/motorhead/absolute etc.) have full length attachments so you can vacuum floors.

      • Yep I had bought this before the full length DC59 one was released. So I bought the full length attachment on ebay for $100 and effectively converted my DC58 into a DC59.

  • just bought one as a spare to my stick one plus used cash rewards for extra savings! thanks for sharing

  • is this one suitable for car Handheld Vacuum Cleaner

    • Yes. Though it is bulky, so it will be hard to clean the instrumment panel.
